Alegeeter Posted January 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2015 Hi all, I am asking your opinions on my current situation after additional price drops on my Alaskan cruise in May on the Pearl. We are 4 adults originally booked an OX stateroom but can upgrade to an OK stateroom for a minimal price. If we upgrade, we would get one of the handicap accessible rooms for the extra space (knowing full well that if someone who needs the accessible cabin books after us we can be moved). Should we do it? I think we're leaning towards switching... And FYI paying to upgrade to a higher oceanview cabin is not an option for us. Thanks! ---- Pros of switching: 8th deck, great midship location, more space, minimal risk of getting a "bad" cabin or a cabin with a porthole (only if cabin is needed for someone else). Cons of switching: settling for obstructed view vs chance of full view Pros of staying: saving a little money, possibility of better cabin Cons of staying: less space, likely to get cabin on 4th or 5th deck
SuiteTraveler Posted January 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2015 For an Alaska cruise, a midship cabin would be better IF you run into high seas going up or coming back. I do think this OX category will be tight for 4 adults, so more space in the OK might be good.
