Insurance&Booking ?'s

Someone mentioned good travel insurance-TravelGuard- can't seem to find that post again- does anyone have their website? Our TA does not use them, but the insurance offered is just what we are looking for.

Very new to cruising so please excuse my "newness"; what are the chances if you book by category instead of assigned room to getting an upgrade, looking to book a mini suite on the Jewell (Jan 29), what in experienced cruisers opinion is the best way to go. The quote I have now is for an AF on the 11th deck, is that good? I mean is AF good?

Also, read about the bar set up, are you allowed to bring tonic water, coke and bottled water on board with you? At boarding and when you come back from ports of call? thanks in advance for answers:)

For insurance you might want to check out insuremytrip.com they compare all the different insurances, and you can go from there.

No problem bringing on soda or water at boarding, or when you come back from ports.

Normally when you book a category guarantee (not a specific cabin) upgrades are within the same type. Example would be lowest inside to a higher deck inside cabin, lowest level balcony to a higher level balcony. Since an AF is a low level suite you may be upgrade, just don't count on it because you may be assigned an AF. The rule of thumb is to always book the lowest category you would be happy with, and don't expect anything better. If the upgrade happens you will be even happier.

An AF cabin is very nice, and includes some special amenities. You didn't mention what ship you are on but the 11th deck is usually close to many things.

Enjoy your cruise...

I had a terrific experience with travel guard (travelguard.com). We were on a Celebrity cruise during Hurricaine Frances last year. The storm prevented us from coming back into port on time, so we stayed at sea for an extra 2 days until the Miami port opened. Travel guard booked us new flights and a hotel in one easy phone call. Not even a long wait on the phone to do so - even though thousands of cruise passengers were affected!

Then they covered all of our taxi, meals, etc while we were in Miami. Our check came very promptly and there was no 3rd degree about any of our expenses. Can't recommend them enough!
