I thought Vergil was some kind of happy dance we were supposed to do if the ship had anchored.

I was on the 12-21 January 2015 Gem sailing, and we tendered in Tortola. The pier looked as if there was still a lot of work to be done.

Was there still shopping at the pier ? There use to be small stalls set up with local vendors.

I did not know this. I was under the impression that the Gem would dock in Tortola on 2/24 when we stop there. It's already a short port stay so that tendering makes it even shorter. Semi disappointing.

There were no shops open. Everything is boarded up and under construction.

 

Honestly, I recommend a ship sponsored excursion for this port due to the condition of the pier and the limited time there. We were required to be back onboard by 12:30.

I was in Tortola on 18 January. I didn't see anything other than sponsored tour vans/buses in the immediate area.
