Things I didn't care for: The wait time to get main course at the complementary MDRs, the iConcierge App, which was good to stay connected, but didn't work more than 1/2 the time, the 7th deck where we had cross thru smoke smelling casino all the time, Mullet's Bay in St. Maarten, & taxi services in St. Maarten.

Will I cruise again with NCL: a big Yes, on Getaway? Another Yes.

Thank you for your great review and wonderful photos.

The iConcierge App didn't work on the Epic this past summer. They said the system was down. I wonder if it something common.

We are going on the Getaway in April for spring break. I enjoyed seeing the pictures and reading your reviews. Glad to see that you would go on the Getaway again.

thank you for your great review. We are so excited to be taking our 2 grand daughters 8 and 12 the first week of March. My daughter is a little concerned about taking the girls to the islands. Did you have any concerns in your recent trip?

You would love it, if you don't mind a slight movement, & hustle bustle, you're bound to get addicted to cruising!

Frankly, after reading a lot of reviews on this forum, I too was concerned about taking our kids to the ports, that's one of the reason why I booked thru NCL for Bahama. I was also concerned about the 'nudity' at St. Maarten beaches, however, frankly didn't experience anything. Mullet's bay was not crowded, but the water was rough, & Maho beach was just too much crowded, but the main attraction were the planes.

At Coki Beach we did see a bunch of local beach bums openly drinking & smoking somewhere in the corner, but none came to bother any of the tourists. Walking around in Nassau didn't feel very safe just because of the number of people on the street, & could be compared to walking in any inner city, so we of course we had instructed our kids to stay in close proximity with us. But all the islands have their own beauty, the crystal clear water, soft sand, & crashing waves!

We hated St. Maarten when we went a few years ago...the taxi drivers were awful. We only had two of us and they kept bypassing us to get to big parties for more money. When they finally would take us, we were crammed in the back of a van in what should've been a seat for one, with no air. He dropped us off at Orient Beach and said he would be back at 2 pm to pick us up as was requested by the other group we were with.

The pushiness of the vendors on the beach was atrocious, people touching you, harassing you, one guy shoved headphones on my head to listen to a CD he made. We bought chairs and a drink from a husband/wife team that was also doing jet skis...we bought from the guy and then when he was out messing with the jet skis the wife tried to get us to pay again, saying we hadn't paid! She kept insisting until my husband, who is normally very gentle, got really stern and told her to back off. The water was rough and there was a lot of debris, although very beautiful. Did see a few people strolling topless, didn't really bother us though as we didn't have children.

We were more than ready to leave because of the vendors by about noon, but unlike other ports where taxis are plentiful, it was a ghostland. It literally took us 30 minutes of wandering around the beach to flag down a taxi who was still rude, but begrudgingly took us back. I will be ok never going back!

Only port we have ever disliked, would rather do Nassau 10 times than that one again! I've heard Jamaica can be bad for vendors too, but thankfully we hired a great private guide who took us to places where it wasn't an issue at all.
