Does UBP promotion include its gratuities?

I can't find this info anywhere. I understand the UBP generally costs $54 pp/daily, which means it's valued at $756 for a week's cruise for 2. When it's an extra cost, gratuities at 15% are an extra $113.40 (again, for 2).

But what about when it's an included promotion? Do we still have to pay gratuities? Or are they included as well?

They are included. On the Getaway we still gave our card and signed a "bill" showing the drink charge and automatic gratuity - I usually added extra tip. The only thing that showed up on our room bill was the extra tip amount - the drink cost and automatic gratuity did not appear.

There were 3 of us with the Ultimate Beverage Package - after seeing that we all had the sticker on our cards the bartenders would just take one card for all 3 drinks.

So what is the rationale for extra tipping over what is applied? 15% is plenty and the extra good service is implied. Don't beat me up on this, just explain. Thx.

The rationale is that the server won't get exactly 15% of that. We pay 15% on the $64.00 a day. So anyone who drinks more than that value will technically not have paid enough to cover that 15% tip. I usually give extra tip to the bartenders and servers who I encounter multiple times if they are good. But technically, the tip is already included.

That makes a lot of sense! I usually tip a bit extra on drinks anyway, but I wouldn't have thought of this reasoning. Thanks!

So let me see if I got this right........I don't have to tip bc the 15% is already paid for so anything I write on the receipt for a tip is an addition too. Is that right?

Just curious, I want to keep track of the drinks we drink just to see if it worth it for the next cruise. We got the UBP free when we booked but I think we will get our monies worth for sure. I just want to see how much we would have had to pay otherwise.
