Sumisid Posted February 3, 2015 #28 Share Posted February 3, 2015 Thank you very much for your live-report. Appreciate it a lot as we will sail on March 1. About Ken Rush: Awful guy! Had him as a CD on Allure and he was the worst ever, arrogant, rude and very full of himself. Fits exactly what you are telling about him, discussing such things on the phone in front of guests. Not looking forward to see this guy again :(.

Life is Good Cruising Posted February 3, 2015 #31 Share Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) We're on the next sailing (cannot wait). Hubs wants to know if there is a cigar bar on board. Also, he is a licensed captain & wants to know if there is a complimentary tour of the bridge for captains. Thx for any help. There is no cigar bar on board. I did see people smoking cigars at the pool area and on Deck 5 starboard. Don't recall seeing anyone in the casino smoking cigars. No complimentary bridge tours, either you pay to tour, or have either 340 or 350 C&A points for a free bridge your. Don't know the cost as we had the points to tour. I believe it may also be offered to Suite guests, not sure though. We did take a bridge tour that lasted approximately 20-25mins. It never hurts to ask GS or the Concierge and tell them hubby is a licensed Captain. Here are some pics from the bridge tour. [timeATTACH ]339033[/ATTACH] Those on board have a great cruise! We had a wonderful time on the 1-23 sailing and could have stayed on longer. Was not crazy about the CD at all and feel that was very unprofessional of him to be speaking on the phone in front of guests and bad mouthing someone. gregdude Posted February 3, 2015 #32 Share Posted February 3, 2015 I'm on board as well and have been very pleased with everything so far. Arrived at port T 11:15 and was on board by 11:30. My luggage was outside my cabin by 1:00 when the rooms were ready. Only issue was my 6:00 performance of MaMa Mis was canceled due to an ill cast member. They added a performance later in the cruise and I was automatically booked for it. My problem was that I had reserved dinner at "Chic" for 9:00 weeks ago. As hard as I tried I could not change the reservation on line. At 7:00i decided to go down and see if I could be seated. There was no line and I was immediately seated at a table for two. The food was very good, much better than previous RCI cruises of the past. There were many open tables, so I concluded they try to stager folks. Great ship great cruise so far, and very friendly staff. (Ps if you use Verizon E-mail forget about it! Their system will not, can not, communicate with Verizon. I had to use my G-Mail account to send and get e-mail at sea). If you don't have G-Mail or Yahoo mail, get it before you leave home.

dedosr Posted February 3, 2015 #34 Share Posted February 3, 2015 Firstly answer the q's1) I did not see a parking structure of any kind. 2) Lady Q left late due to the snow meaning food pallets were still being boarded at 6pm. Also leaving it as late as possible to give people time with the flight delays in the tri-state area. Photos and Videos coming tomorrow, im planning on getting the laptop set up somewhere and getting them off my camera, edited, and uploaded so stay tuned! (Possibly Two70 because food.) After Muster I headed and chilled in the Solarium for the 2 hour wait, before giving up waiting for sailaway and heading back to the cabin to prepare for dinner. Dinner tonight was in The Grande (informal tonight). Menu consisted of most of the items listed on the website and a simple tastes menu which included New York Strip Steak, Chicken Fillet, and Pasta. Assistant waiters are back and are all very bubbly, food was VERY quick and great quality. No wait in line or nothing. I took a few hoops in the very empty SeaPlex to burn off some Steak based calories and then headed to check out Majority Rules in Music Hall (now comes the juicy bits). Secondly, it was the first time I met the Cruise Director, in the Music Hall, he was at the bar doing some organising which I then heard him phone down the the people hosting MR checking they were beginning in 2 minutes, quite rudely. It gets worse, he then moves to the seat 3 away from me when I head back, to which I then hear him discussing, irately, at another member of staff over the phone how he hadn't met the woman who is hosting MR, she's new onboard today, and he was annoyed that she was working her first night, he then said "well we will discuss this in senior staff meeting tomorrow as this isn't company policy and we all know that is (someone) found out they would agree with me". This is in front of guests. During an event. On his phone. 5 steps from a staff area which would have been more professional. Anyway, sleep time for me, M&M in the morning followed by a photo/video import/edit/upload day. What is the MR you are referring to?

Treacher1 Posted February 4, 2015 #38 Share Posted February 4, 2015 We had Ken Rush twice before - he can be arrogant and sure of himself. However, every time he has been the CD there were always PLENTY of extra games and activities on sea days and at night. This is not always the case with others. Can you find out how long he will be sailing on Quantum since I read he is filling in for the regular CD on vacation?? Thanks!

Sea Dame 1 Posted February 4, 2015 #40 Share Posted February 4, 2015 Enjoy your trip! The QOS is a beauty. We were on the 1/23 sailing and had a great time. We had no problem changing dinner reservations if you go to the Restaraunt directly and ask if there is availability to be seated. We were accommodated every time. Jamie's was fabulous I highly recommend it. Have a wonderful cruise. Sent from my iPad using Forums
ED209 Posted February 4, 2015 #41 Share Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) Following along on your live report. If possible, can you please find out if Ken Rush will be the CD on Quantum on the March 29th cruise? He was the CD on the Allure when we cruised in May 2014, and I thought he and his team did a great job. He was energetic, enthusiastic and made our trip fun (it was our first cruise ever). Seems there are some on this forum that not fans, but IMO Ken was very good. Enjoy your trip and have fun! ocav Posted February 4, 2015 Author #42 Share Posted February 4, 2015 Thanks all for your replies, glad to have you joining us onboard via the internet. I promised photos, however I got distracted by hot tubs so far only a few from the first day (New York night/Boarding Day) however over the next few days ill get a lot more of the ship for you all. You can also have a video tomorrow of the Bionic Bar! DAYS AT SEA! Today starts the 2 days at sea before arriving in Labadee. I woke up at about 6am and headed down to Cafe Two70 grabbing a Yoghurt Parfait. I don't normally get up till later so I wasn't hungry, but the early M&M was dawning. What a fantastic event and its a shame a few missed it. Our activities manager (not sure of her name, but a fellow Brit) hosted perfectly, she was hilarious and quite a few prizes were given away. We also hosted a gift exchange and not only did I come away with some fantastic New York treasures (as did others), im also 2 up on Disney Princess bags. To those who were there, to those that said hello, and everything, thank you for keeping me sane at 9 in the morning! Slightly lazy day followed, we are rolling a little with the seas however it has calmed down this evening. Tonight I dined at the Windjammer which was extremely quiet however the main dining rooms seemed to be a lot busier tonight. The comedian tonight, Troy Thirgill, was hilarious, and for those who don't have him onboard, well then im sorry for you. Its getting late so heres some photos from Day 1 (I take videos more so expect more of them as they are edited) Day 1 Photos Photo site - https://quantum2215.shutterfly.com View of the Empire State from my Pre-Cruise Hotel, Hilton Times Square. If you've never been to Manhatten before and want somewhere to stay Pre-Cruise id highly recommend the location of this hotel. 30 second walk to Times Square and not too hard to get to the port from. View across Manhattan, again, same room! Now onboard, heres something you don't see everyday, the rain dripping off the sunbeds was freezing, many didnt wish to brave the snow however as it covered the pool deck (the video is much more impressive). See y'all tomorrow! Hopefully with more sun above!

Just want to make it clear, my opinion of him just didnt get off on a good foot, I hadn't seen him in a public setting until today so im holding off judgement, however, you don't argue with other staff on your phone, during entertainment. Its rude and shows a flaw in your management.
ED209 Posted February 4, 2015 #44 Share Posted February 4, 2015 Agree with you, arguing with staff in a public area is unprofessional. I was just curious if Ken will be the CD on future trips on Quantum. Anyway, looking forward to more of your live report.

JezzaC Posted February 4, 2015 #49 Share Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) Sail away is currently a little late due to the "inclement weather" either a few passengers still not onboard, but they are also still putting food and luggage on down below. Found out one thing... The Solarium bar doesn't do ordinary drinks, just "health drinks" and will not accept drinks packages! So are those considered as ala carte food items? Well - I possibly don't need a health drink anyway - better with boozy ones. How does the current menus for complimentary restaurants look like? They have adjusted menus a bit. How does the current menus for complimentary restaurants look like? They have adjusted menus a bit. Well it's ala carte drinks yes, no standard drinks available meaning solarium guests have to go through to the main pool bar to get a drink. I like the idea of healthy drinks in the Solarium, but why not just stock normal drinks as well! I've only dined at Grande so far (will be dining at Chic tonight) and the Grande had the same menus as listed on the website with an additional "Simple Tastes" section. Assistant waiters were also back on in The Grande.
