Slot Tournament- Can someone describe exactly how it works??

So I know in a slot tournament you press the "spin" button as fast as you can but what qualifies you to win? Do you start out with a certain amount of credits? I guess I want to know how exactly it works and how you would win?

Been a while since I've done one, but I believe everyone starts with zero credits and works their way up based on what they win. Top ten scores go to the final round.

You are correct Funsince83! Everyone starts at zero and in the tournament we were in, everyone got a set amount of spins (I think it was 50 - they gave you enough credits for 50 "max bet" spins).

 

My wife was sitting in 10th place in her tournament and one guy had two spins left and was 3500 behind her and got 5000 on his last spin to knock her out.

There is a timer that is set to 5 minutes, when they say go you just mash the max bet button as fast as you can until your timer hits 0.

You pay a lot of money and push button as many times as you can for 5 minutes and walk away with less money!

My cabin mate won back in 2010, I figure that automatically negates my chances of ever winning. Lightning already struck as close as its gonna get haha.

It's $25 to enter. Top 8 go into a final round for the $500 prize. Brainless fun. I love to enter. Came in second once, that was a bummer!

You purchase a $25 entry at the casino cage and they give you a slot tournament entry card. You sign up to play on the sign-up sheet to pick your round--rounds usually run from noon until about 2 PM. When your round comes up, you sit at the machine you signed up for on that sign-up sheet. You play for a set amount of time which can vary by ship, but usually 3 to 5 minutes. There are no credits involved. You simply hit the button over and over until time runs out. The top point scorers during the tournament time of about 2 1/2 hours get their names put on the leader board. The number of names kept on the leader board is determined by the number of slot machines being used in the tournament (usually about 8 or so). Those top 8 or so players at the end of the tournament play in one final round. The top scorer in that final round wins-usually $500. Recently Carnival has been giving the top 2 scorers in that final round an entry into one of their Ultimate Slot Tournaments. That is only an entry into the tournament--you still have to pay for the cruise to play in that tournament. And in my experience, that ultimate slot tournament cruise is way more expensive than similar sailings on the same ship. I won 2 entries last year and one already this year, but haven't used any of them because they are overpriced IMO. I'm happy with winning $500 on each of my last 3 cruises. :-)

To answer for Winddawn, yes they can. We won two entries last year, and they come with instructions on how to transfer them if you want to.

I had always wanted to try a slot tournament, so I did one last summer. It was on NCL Jewel, and I guess different cruise line probably have their own style of slot tournament. But this is how it went when I did mine.....

 

On the first day of the cruise, I paid $20 to join in. The first round of the tournament I was scheduled for was the next day at 10:30 a.m.

 

A group of slot machines was used. A group of 6 people played at a time. When it was my turn, I sat down at the machine that had my name lit up at the top. When it started, you just push the play button as fast as your finger can. Not sure on the time....probably 5 minutes. Your "pot" starts at zero, and the winner is the one with the highest score.

 

Some folks had their right pointer finger get tired after a bit, and I saw some had to start using their left pointer. I had no trouble just using my right pointer the whole time.

 

It showed at the top of the machine what place you were in. I looked up twice to see .... once I was in 3rd place.....once I was in 2nd place. At the end of the tournament, I was in LAST PLACE!! HA! And I had pushed that button just as fast as my pointer finger possibly could. HA!

 

There really is no talent involved at all. Just luck!!!! The luck of whatever machine you get assigned to. The winner of each round of 6 people went on to the finals, which was in a couple of days, I think.

 

It was fun, as I had always wanted to try a slot tournament. But, would I do it again? Pry not. There were many, many folks in the slot tournament. So, chances of winning at then end were pretty slim.

Don't give up playing, my husband and I both won on one cruise and have each taken turns winning other times. Like 8 x's.
