DinaS Posted February 14, 2015 #26 Share Posted February 14, 2015 Thank you DinaS for the clarification. I understand now that the 55+ or resident promo is not advantageous since we would loose the 123GO. Might be good for non drinkers who feel that 123GO is useless for them. I think non-drinkers are probably the only people who will benefit from using the resident or senior discount price instead of the 123GO promotion. While we don't drink nearly enough to warrant purchasing a drink package, we usually end up spending about $150 each over a 7 day cruise. It's worth it to have the freedom to do that without worrying about our final bill :)
doublemm16 Posted February 14, 2015 #27 Share Posted February 14, 2015 Well I got the final word from my travel agent today, that based on the original package I booked, to keep everything, our price would stay the same. However, Celebrity is giving us an additional $300 OBC under this new promotion. That is just $100 less than we would have saved, and it is a nice add on to the OBC we already have. I'm happy. :D
Rare Jetswdo Posted February 14, 2015 #28 Share Posted February 14, 2015 I don't think their customer service agents understand any more than the passengers and the travel agents! On my Bermuda sailing, the last price as of Jan was $1644 (base)-- to get the President sailing price- it was changed to $1674 then minus sign $100- meaning the savings for A2 cabin became $70 less per person. The bev package, gratuities remained the same, but then added $300 OBC ( which I intend to cash in at the casino, minus their 5% fee--making it $285.00) Port charge still shows the same ( no refund of $20 per person) First customer service agent got beligerent, when I politely asked why the $20 wasn't removed-- said the agents have no control over that, and that the cruiseline may or may not refund the $20-- and then went on to say, that unless the entire reservation is completely cancelled before rebooking it can't be done---ok.... Called back today to ask for explanation of the codes regarding bev. package and gratuities- just wanted to make sure that reservation still shows that- and today's customer service agent- gave me a lecture- that there is no need to be concerned regarding the codes- that it is in the system showing beverage package, etc. I explained that the only reason I asked is because as price drops occur, I want to make sure that it still includes everything. We are not drinkers, just don't want to be bothered paying seperately for the occasional drink, and we like to drink sodas with dinner--- As someone posted--- the residency and over 55 rates are great if one is not going to purchase a beverage package---- Celebrity pricing gives me a headache, so I admit, I don't mind returning the favor! firstcruiserDB Posted February 14, 2015 #29 Share Posted February 14, 2015 This all is so confusing to me! :confused:I'm just not sure why it has to be so hard to understand! We have been booked in a suite since last summer. We booked our cruise to Bermuda with a TA. We got what I think is a good rate and two regular beverage package. In addition, the TA offered $325 in OBC. I called the TA a couple of months ago about getting the total 123 offer, and he told me that we'd have to cancel and rebook. The cost of our cabin has now gone up, and all of our cabin categories are sold out. This call resulted in no price drops! I am wondering, though, if the President's Day sale would benefit us? Can we get a price decrease if all cabins in our category are sold out? The price of our cabin, also, has increased since we booked. Final payment isn't due for 3 more weeks. I'm thinking it's a done deal.....no price drops for us. I don't want to be stupid, though, so I'm here asking the experts! Should I call the TA again??? Thanks for any advice! Iamthesea Posted February 15, 2015 #30 Share Posted February 15, 2015 Sure, why not try it again. I am wondering if anyone has tried to upgrade their cabin with this new sale (President's) ...after final payment? I could upgrade from a CC to a GTY Suite for about $800 more and save off the current standard rate of about $200 more for a Sky Suite. It sure would be nice if I could. ;)
hgc24 Posted February 15, 2015 #31 Share Posted February 15, 2015 I called Celebrity today as the promo is for over 55 and she said that since I made the final payment for an April cruise that there was nothing they could do to reduce the price. The price was for my exact stateroom level and $500 less. Sad.
hgc24 Posted February 15, 2015 #32 Share Posted February 15, 2015 My cruise with the exact stateroom level dropped by $500 today as we are over 55 and I called celebrity but they couldn't do anything to reduce our price! Sad!:(

Sad!:( You started another thread with this issue - except the price difference was $362 - not $500. That's quite a difference. I responded on that thread.
