Karencruiser43 Posted September 1, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2005 Anybody know if there is much of a difference between the two bio-tours? Farjardo seems easier to get to, but is it really worth the extra trip to Vieques?

#1TravelMom Posted September 4, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2005 You can search for my review of this trip. Fajardo is spectacular!!! We were in Puerto Rico for 6 days. Our teens wanted to do it twice! Make sure you go with Island Kayaks and ask for Richard from Pennsylvania. Go on the early tour-it's amazing!:D
Karencruiser43 Posted September 5, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted September 5, 2005 Do you have a website for this guy? and what do you mean by early tour? How much was it? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks!
#1TravelMom Posted September 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2005 I'm trying to find the web address-will post asap. There are 2 tours: 1) Depart dock in daylight, just before sunset. Kayak to lagoon through the mangrove at dusk. Great information along the way. Get into the water just as it gets dark and wait for the magic. Return kayak in the dark to the dock. 2) Depart dock in darkness. Kayak through the mangrove. Swim in the glowing water. Return in the dark. We felt we got so much more kayaking to the area in the light. Richard gave great information along the way as we had full view of a mangrove. The tour was about $45 pp (not 100% sure of $) It's very easy to drive from San Juan to the dock and meet them.

#1TravelMom Posted September 8, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 8, 2005 The name of the company is Island Kayaking. www.islandkayakingpr.com If you use them, make sure to ask for Richard from Pennsylvania. I'm not sure why the price on their site is $55 pp. We paid $40 or $45 pp-I can't remember exactly. Also, the site doesn't mention an early and a late tour. But, they definately have 2 tours a night. We rented a car and drove to the dock ourselves. It's very easy to find and the drive isn't difficult. I've read Vieques is better, but I can't imagine how. Fajardo is just amazing. You'll see-it's a very difficult thing to describe, but incredible to experience. Are you going to be able to go when their is no moon? The darker, the better.
