Trent - let me bother you again

IYHO - keeping in mind this is for 4/13-15/06 (spring break), what would be the best hotel for 3 families to spend two days prior to a cruise without breaking the bank???? 2 of the families will be flying in, one will be driving. We definitely need a pool or walking access to a beach to keep the kiddies (6 of them,10 to 17) occupied, and a suite hotel might be good for the one family with 3 kids (may be cheaper than booking 2 rooms?). I've already booked the Sleep Inn for my family, but like you've pointed out before there's nothing around it so I'm still looking. Let us know what you think, your help is priceless!!!!

Well that's tough, spring break is the most expensive time of year down here. The suite hotels are not within walking distance to the beach. I suppose you could walk from Embassy Suites or AmeriSuites to the Water Taxi stop at the Marina Marriott, and take that to one of the beach stops, but it's a bit of a longish walk (6-8 blocks).

You can try any of the SE 17th Street hotels and take the Water Taxi to the beach...

Embassy Suites... http://www.embassysuites.com/en/es/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=FLLSOES

AmeriSuites... http://amerisuites.com/reservations/locationdetail.asp?facid=3929

AmeriSuites is less expensive on Priceline, or one of the hotel sites such as Valuetrips... http://www.valuetrips.com/AMS/FL/F17.htm

Marina Marriott... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLFL

Holiday Inn Express and Extended Stay America are among the least expensive on SE 17th Street, but neither one has a pool. They are a short walk to the Water Taxi stop at the Marina Marriott though...

Extended Stay America... http://www.extendedstayamerica.com/hotels/fort-lauderdale-convention-center-marina.html

If you want something ON the beach in Fort Lauderdale try Pelican Beach Resort... http://www.pelicanbeach.com/

Harbor Beach Marriott... http://www.marriottharborbeach.com/

Bahia Mar... http://www.bahiamarhotel.com/

The new Hollywood Beach Marriott may be a less expensive oceanfront alternative... http://www.hollywoodbeachmarriott.com/
