kendracruises Posted February 20, 2015 #26 Share Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) The smoking areas are deck 3 and 10 outside starboard and the casino bar during certain hours. junglecat Posted February 20, 2015 #27 Share Posted February 20, 2015 Just got off of this ship as well. Several ask what people did at each stop. In port order, we took a shuttle to orient beach and went to the nude beach. Beautiful white sand, Pedro's snack shack with a dj, food cheap beer and free wifi. At st Kitts we took a shuttle and went to cockelshell beach. OK brown sand beach nothing great. Did get a sea side 30 minute massage for $25. In San Juan, saw the governor, the fort, got panhandled for $3.00, and shopped til we dropped. Found tons of beautiful handcrafted gifts, which are the best, in my opinion. In grand turks we rented a golf cart from the new company (not Nathans) for $100 for the day. It starts with a K but I can't remember the name. Ask for Max OUTSIDE the parking area. Had the run of the island. THE most beautiful site was the cliff at the lighthouse. It overlooks the sea and it was like nothing I've ever seen. Drove to Boho resort (free beach) and sunned ourselves. Pit stop at jacks shack for drinks and hit governor's beach where we found several pieces of sea glass. Oh yes, also stopped downtown and had conch fritters at Barbie's, where there's also free WiFi. Only complaint was dining service was not what we've had before. Not horrible but no where near great. Had late dining and every night was the last or close to last table to leave st nearly 10:45. We went to the dining room for breakfast only to be served waffles and French toast with no syrup. Finally got syrup but NEVER was asked about refils on coffee or oj. If I could give carnival my 2 cents worth of advise iit would be to have the buffet, or Guy's open when passengers get back on the ship. The only food available is pizza and burritos on three port days. Makes for very very long lines. If either the buffet or Guy's were available on those days would be best. In fact we met an older man who had just done a back to back with another cruise line and he said he would never do Carnival again due to lack of options for food on port days. We had a great time and would recommend this tour again. Agreed mike pack was awesome!

junglecat Posted February 20, 2015 #30 Share Posted February 20, 2015 Yes, you'll need chips. I too found this strange as well. They have every type of hot sauce, topping, beans, cheese but no chips.

The fun times for the 8 day cruise are posted on the following roll call last page: 2015-01-24 - Conquest GT, DR, Cur, Aruba Thanks for that information, but that is not the same itinerary that we are looking for. This one is GT, St. Kitts, St. Maarten & San Juan. Thanks though! Wonder if the new menus will be rolled on out before our October cruise? Junglecat - thanks for the thoughts on excursions. We were thinking about just doing the golf cart rental in GT too. The name of the place is Karib Auto Rental. Glad to hear that you liked the place. Did they give you a map to follow? VacaGrl45 Posted February 20, 2015 #32 Share Posted February 20, 2015 Just sailed as well. No Serenity lounge for the adults, but there were only 150 kids on the ship, so you rarely saw them. In St Maarten we took a cab to Orient Beach and laid on the beach all day. In St Kitts we took a cab to the beach, wasn't impressed, too much seaweed and very small beach, water was too rough to swim. San Juan we did the forts and then to Barrachinas (?spelling) for Pina Coladas. Grand Turk, we got screwed by Nathan out of our golf cart. Karibe had none to rent, so we rented a car instead, was cheaper too! $65 vs $100. We visited the prison, the museum, the lighthouse, Govenors beach-lots of sea glass, the Jacks Shack. Loved St. Maarten and Grand Turk the most! If we ever visit St. Kitts again, we will take a water taxi to Nevis for the day. Did anytime dining, enjoyed the service on the first night so we requested that table every night, it helps to slip the girl at the desk some cash! Loved the Lobby Bar, great place for drinks before dinner. Music was good, did two shows, not that impressed. Casino was smokey, used my $25 free play that carnival had given me and turned it into $87 at roulette! We were off the ship by 0945 and on our way to the airport to pick up our car for the day. Arrived home to freezing cold temps and wind. Oh, how i wish I was still on the Conquest!:)
surfone Posted February 20, 2015 #33 Share Posted February 20, 2015 We cruised the Conquest back in 2013 and the back pool & hot tub are adults only. We usually just hung out at the main pool area. Can anyone tell me what terminal # at Port Everglades the Conquest is sailing out of? I do hope that's still the case as far as the back pool & hot tub being adults only. Wonder why they don't change it over to a Serenity Deck...we sail on Conquest on a B2B in June.

Did not realize that they had cars possibly cheaper. Will have to check that out. Also, FYI, we have done ATD for our last two cruises and both times we asked for the same wait team every night - no extra cash required. Save your money! TerReuv Posted February 20, 2015 #35 Share Posted February 20, 2015 I heard back from John and he believes that the new menu's will be on the Conquest by October, but he cannot confirm exactly when. Also, Mike Pack will still be the CD for our cruise in October. Good to hear as those that have been on her, say he is really good.

Also, Mike Pack will still be the CD for our cruise in October. Good to hear as those that have been on her, say he is really good. I asked him about the menu and chips this morning and he said "Yes, there is indeed every chance and although I do not have a specific date there is a great chance you will get to enjoy the American Table menu when you sail. I will keep you informed. The salsa is for toppings for the tacos and not for "ships" [sic] and salsa per say but I am asking the beards again as I think it may be a nice addition. Thanks mate and have a wonderful cruise and a great life together" John doesn't punctuate, so I quoted how he typed. I really hope we have the new menu, weird, I know! I hate that I can taste everything from MDR by just thinking about it. I am itching for something new! I probably will cancel the Steakhouse and just do Chef's Table if the new menu is rolled out! (I just hope they roll it out SEVERAL months before we sail. I have heard the staff has a learning curve with it.)

wikoffclan Posted February 22, 2015 #38 Share Posted February 22, 2015 We sailed Conquest out of FLL Jan. 24 - Feb. 1 and had Mike Pack as our Cruise Director. I have to say he was the BEST Cruise Director we have ever had. His energy is contagious, his humor is fun for all. He got my husband, who NEVer gets in on the fun, involved. We joined "The Inaugural Egg Drop Contest" and had the most fun. Mike had all three floors of people overlooking the atrium dancing and singing along with a music trivia contest. His suit of British flags is a hoot. He starts the cruise by saying he wants to meet everyone on board - and I believe he does. With a grin and a hug for all. The rest of the crew all pick up on his friendliness and energy and we were impressed by how personable, friendly, energetic and helpful All the rest of the crew were. Absolutely the best. I would choose our next cruise just by knowing he would be our Cruise Director.
hammsz Posted February 22, 2015 Author #39 Share Posted February 22, 2015 Did you miss not having a serenity deck? I am considering this ship for an October cruise. However, I wonder if I would miss the serenity deck on sea days. I didnt miss the deck, just make the most out of your cruise. theres plenty of places to go on the back of the ship thats not crowded

1gr8cruise Posted February 23, 2015 #43 Share Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) We sailed the Conquest, worst ship I have ever been on. Lots of broken stuff....I wish I could post my photos here......I took plenty of them. Glass, several panes of glass with tape on them. The hot tubs, the white ring around the hot tubs were all broke.....floating in the hot tub etc. Green algae in the rear pool, all over the tile next to the pool. A guy we were with wore a tshirt in the pool, it was ruined....green slime stuck right to it, he threw it away. Also, the guy in charge of the rear pool was a jerk, he wouldn't retract the roof until 930 or so....everyone complained, he told me he didn't care. When that roof is closed its about 100 degrees and musty at the back pool. Broken floor tiles in buffet areas, lots of them cracked. This was April 2014. Don't know if it has been in for refurb since then......I wont sail that ship until it has been refurbed. Very disappointing. I haven't seen any broken tiles in Lido. Some things are showing some wear, but pretty much in good condition. They closed the roof on the aft pool just before sunset tonight. It was pretty darn good !

Don't know if it has been in for refurb since then......I wont sail that ship until it has been refurbed. Very disappointing. I just got off the Conquest in early Feb and will agree that the ship is a little tired and needs some attention. I also noticed the broken tiles near the lido buffet. Also there are a number of tables in the lido area, as well as in line at the deli counter where the condensation from the A/C drips on you. But I had no issues with the aft pool or hot tubs. Maybe they fixed those issues since your cruise. But in general, it seemed like the ship needed a lot of minor fixes but enough that made it seem like it was time to really go through and overhaul it. Lots of little things build up. Like some of the carpeting smelled bad, carpet panels on some of the aft stairs were falling down, some elevators had some of the decor defaced or parts of the decoration were missing. None of this ruined my cruise, just made me think that the new TV commercials didn't really match the experience you get on the older ships.
