tarheelmjfan Posted September 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2005 Does anyone know of any AI resorts, in Aruba, currently selling day passes to cruise ship passengers? We are scheduled to dock there on Nov. 22nd. I have checked the Aruba "Ports of Call" board, but can't find an answer. Thanks :)

tarheelmjfan Posted September 3, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted September 3, 2005 Thanks :) Do you know what the day pass includes? Also, where do we go to get the passes? Thanks again :)
saw1953 Posted September 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2005 When I e-mailed them they answered that it included lunch. They didn't say anything about drinks. It does include their private island. The Renaissance should be a short walk from the dock and you should be able to buy the day passes at the front desk. We went to the Allegro the last time we were in Aruba and it was beautiful; however, they are closed until December for renovations.
tarheelmjfan Posted September 3, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted September 3, 2005 I had planned to go to the Allegro. Wish they would have opened sooner. :( Sounds like the Renaissance will work out fine. :) Thanks

sgttami Posted September 7, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 7, 2005 It really isn't necessary to get a day pass to the beaches (hotels) in Aruba. All the beaches are free.. We went to Radisson for the day. There's a nice little beach bar/shop to the left and a great outdoor bar/restaurant. We paid $6.00 for a lounge chair since we were not hotel guests but that was it. We had rented a car ( 4of us) which was a waste..(107.00). It was only $4 a person to go by taxi. There was too much traffic to drive anywhere so we took the rental car back.. weary traveler Posted September 8, 2005 #8 Share Posted September 8, 2005 Ive just contacted the Riu Grande and am awaiting a reply will advise when i get it.. We're in November 11th for the day and did the Allegro last year as well and loved it. I know Sandals and Breezes allow for this sort of thing makes me surprised not many other pick up on it during slow times... Weary
tarheelmjfan Posted September 8, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted September 8, 2005 Weary, Please let us know what you find out. We're going to be docked in Aruba from 7 am to 11:59 pm. We plan to spend the entire day at the beach & would like to have an umbrella with our chairs, hammocks (if possible) & other options. Food & drinks included would be a definate plus. :) A good AI would be perfect! If anyone else has any suggestions, please share. The more options to choose from the better. :D

NoNoNanette Posted January 14, 2006 #15 Share Posted January 14, 2006 I've been researching De Palm Island Resort. They're offering an open bar/food on their private "island" for $45 half day or $65 full day. I've emailed them for more information, and will report back! (So far, the folks on Trip Advisor either LOVE IT, or think it's a "dump".) http://www.depalm.com
kate564 Posted January 19, 2006 #16 Share Posted January 19, 2006 We went to the Holiday Inn and few years ago and just had to pay to rent a chair and then a bunch of different water sports were available to rent. I just wrote them to see if it is still available that way and will report back what I hear. We will be there in March.

LDinCT Posted February 3, 2006 #18 Share Posted February 3, 2006 Strange time for the Zaandam to be arriving. Are there docks or will this be a tender. Not a lot of time - thinking earliest you would get to the beach or hotel would be 2 pm. Was going to go to the Renaisannce, but don't know if it's worth it. How far is Baby beach from the ship? Thanks. LDinCT

BillfromWV Posted July 12, 2006 #21 Share Posted July 12, 2006 There are four of us going on RCL and the stop is from morning until the following morning at 1 am. We decided to rent a room at a resort through priceline. A 100 dollar bid got us the Aruba Beach Casino Resort (Wyndam). So for $25 a person we all have use of the resort facilities as well as a private room to change in or use the facilities. Seemed kind of cheap to us given the amount of time we are on Aruba. billyblaze Posted July 12, 2006 #22 Share Posted July 12, 2006 Bill: Priceline is a great idea. However, my understanding of the priceline rules are that your ressie is for 2 people. The Resort always has the option of charging you an extra person fee for the other two adults. My guess is they would let kids slide without the fee. Let us know how it works for you. When will you be there?
BillfromWV Posted July 13, 2006 #23 Share Posted July 13, 2006 We are going to be there on Aug 2, 2006. I'll post when we get back about how it goes. Just the flexibility this will allow us will be good since we are in Aruba for so long.
powerpuff Posted July 14, 2006 #24 Share Posted July 14, 2006 We are going to be there on Aug 2, 2006. I'll post when we get back about how it goes. Just the flexibility this will allow us will be good since we are in Aruba for so long. Hi BillfromWV, You may want to check those dates. We made the same mistake. We are going on RCCL on Aug. 13, and we thought that we were in Aruba for two days. The ship arrives in port at 8am and it leaves at 1am that same night. It looks like two days because they use the next day's date as the departure time, but because it is after midnight the date changes. So you are actually there only one day, not two. BillfromWV Posted August 8, 2006 #25 Share Posted August 8, 2006 We went to the Aruba Spa and Casino Resort at 10:00 am after a short cab ride. The receptionist check us in early as I explained to her that we were not sleeping in the room only using it for the day and then leaving. for $127 four of us used a beautiful resort, beach, pool ect. At the end of the day, we all took showers cleaned up and caught a cab to Carlos and Charlies. It was the best day of the whole trip for less then$35 a person. No way a ship excursion could have matched what we received. Bill
