otogocruisin Posted February 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2015 We will be sailing on Queen Victoria ending our cruise in October in Istanbul. I am a little concerned with our planned flight times. We will be flying to London and would love to be on a 10 30am flight out of Istanbul. We will be sailing in the Queens Grill. Do you think we will be safe with the timing? Thank you for your help, Pam
phileas Posted February 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2015 Hi Pam, Unless the ship is docking at the crack of dawn, you are probably pushing your luck in trying to get a 10:30am flight. You obviously need to allow for traffic, which can be pretty horrendous in and around Istanbul. Also you need to allow for the check in and getting through the security checks etc at the airport. If the ship was late docking you may have a problem. Finally you may find that instead of docking, she has to anchor for a few hours, until the allocated berth is vacated. This would mean waiting for the tenders to start running plus the additional time it takes for the tender to reach the shore. This happened when we were on the QV at Istanbul and she did not dock for several hours. I hope you have a great time! Phileas
otogocruisin Posted February 28, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted February 28, 2015 Thank you! We have been to Istanbul several times and it is concerning. I guess we will have to wait for the next flight which is after 1pm which is safer!
