Coffee snobs needed.

This is made from the lexan type plastic they use for re-usable water bottles. QUOTE]

Yes, I was serious. I'm glad it's the better plastic. I sometimes get a plastic taste from putting warm liquids in those cheap [softer plastic] cups....enough that I avoid them. It doesn't sound like that's the case at all for the brewer you linked.

Whatever your NCL itinerary, chance are you will be someplace where you can buy good, fresh, ground coffee: Roatan, Columbia, Mexico, Italy.... Chances are you can buy great, ground coffee in a port

Good tip!

as a coffee lover i've been reading this thread with curiosity and great interest and all the time i'm thinking what the heck is French press ??

until the pic on the amazon link and then i got it, it's a cafetiere :)

not sure i understand the adding creamer or sugar part before plunging, that totally weirds me out but hey as the French would say "À chacun son gout" ;)

Since you like it really strong (as do I), I would use two pods in two espresso cups and pour them into a larger cup, then add your other ingredients.

I would check out any videos and pics of your Sky suite for the machine. We were in an aft suite on the Sun and there was no machine. There is actually no place on the built in cabinets that would fit it. The coffee machine is one of my favorite things in a suite, but we survived. :p

I watched a Youtube of our cabin and saw the Lavazza machine, so I should be good to go. I'll try the double espresso, my only concern at that point would be the amount of caffeine I ingest. Since I like to drink quite a bit of coffee, I might OD or get shaky.

@Jofishes = I suppose it may have been disappointing to learn it was something already familiar to you, by another name.

Well, it's a travel mug so unable to really add stuff after you plunge it.

Try the chamomile pods that will also be with the Lavazza. That was the best darned chamomile I have ever had, not at all like you would brew yourself. I ended up drinking it hot or over ice. Yum!

I've never had chamomile tea, but I'll give it a try. I can't see any reason not too, if it's there. I'll step out of my comfort zone.

I normally drink iced tea, so I guess I might like it over ice.....or warm could be worth a try since I just read it can promote better sleep. Decisions, decisions.

Hi, I'm quercus, and I'm a coffee snob.

We bring our own bag of a nice local roast and extra filters to make our own in the mini drip coffee makers they have in balcony cabins. Doesn't take up much room in luggage. Haven't sailed a suite (yet) so can't say what the experience is with the lavazza machines.

Just regular filters? Or cone?

if using it to promote sleep i would try it warm with a touch of honey if you need to sweeten it up a little :)

We're from the Pacific Northwest... And have lots of good coffee here. Just off the Pearl and the coffee was not as bad as I thought it would be. The best coffee on the ship was served in a few of the specialty restaraunts. Bare with my foggy DayQuil'd brain... But... Le Bistro brought out a French press... That was fantastic. The Chinese food place... Can't recall the name... That is being converted to family style dining and will be complimentary now (great meal btw), and the Teppenyaki place both get their coffee from the espresso bar, and it may have been an Americano... And the Chinese food place brought a little pitcher of steamed milk to go with it... To die for!
