DH and I are sailing on the Imagination 10/29/05. We would like to climb Dunn's River Falls on an excursion. Looking on the Carnival website, there are several choices of excursions to book to do this. My question is, Which one to book? Anyone done any of these and care to offer advice? Thanks so much for the help in advance!

Book an excursion with an independent tour operator. There are several that people on this board have used and recommend. We went with Phil Lafayette and LOVED it. I wrote a review on this board not long ago.

Definately go with a tour and do not try Jamaca on your own. The first time we were in Jamaca we didn't book anything and had a so-so time. The second time we went with Phil Lafayette and really had fun. Jamaca is someplace you really need to have an organized tour to really appreciate the area. You may want to try tubing...It was terrific!

Go to the CC boards that list ports and click on Jamaca. You'll have tons of information.

We just sailed the 8/20 Imagination. We just got a taxi, actually a minibus, at the pier for $5.50 per person, that took us to the falls. We bought admission tickets for the park from the guide on the minibus for their face value, saved time standing in line to buy tickets. If you choose to do this, make sure the vehicle has red license plates as these are the legal taxis. Just be sure to get a written receipt when you pay.

Our dinner table mates did not show up until what was supposed to be our last night onboard. Turns out they were right in front of us climbing the falls (we were holding their hands) and paid much more by booking an excursion through the ship.

This turned out to be a good option for us.

Go over to the Jamaica board and read all the reviews for excursions that include the falls and other things as well. The falls were great!!!! You will love them. But if you look over there you will see quite a few different tour companies that CC people recommend. Most will give their websites so you can read about them yourself and you can ask more detailed questions. Happy cruising
