vadim77777 Posted June 1, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2004 I am wondering what is best way to get local currency in St.Petersburg? Has anybody had any experience with ATM's over there? Jane110 Posted June 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Most places in Russia will take US currency. Make sure your bills are clean, unmarked and as new as possible. Jane
nny92825100 Posted June 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2004 We used our credit card all the time, only taking a small amount (20 in $1 bills). Of course the people on the street and in front of tourist sites only take money. If they take your credit card, count it as gone. Unless you are going on your own, shopping won't be something you get to do much of. 1/2 hour at Red October is about it. This is true of ship tours or others, unless you specify shopping in your private tour. Prices are equal to US. All other cities in the Baltic, we just his the ATM's with our debit card and were on our way.
