Polonius Posted March 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2015 I have cruised on the NCL Dawn for five years each time accompanying a person with an intellectual disability. I have never sought out any extra help or accommodations as we get along just fine and crew and passengers are always friendly and helpful, but I wonder if maybe embarkation and disembarkation might be made easier for us? Also open to any other suggestions or experiences. I would love to hear from other folks to help make this an even more enjoyable trip for my friend. Firehunter Posted March 13, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2015 Yes, definitely contact the access staff. They are very friendly and helpful to meet any requests you may have be it as simple as having someone there to help you on the ship.

Polonius Posted April 10, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted April 10, 2015 So funny. I called and asked about easier boarding and getting off the ship due to my friend's disability and they advised me to get there early! No big deal though, we will just board as usual. :D
searoses Posted April 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2015 You could request a wheelchair as it goes early and very quickly if the person had trouble waiting in line or with crowds....they will add it to your reservation or you can just wait with others....I know some will comment that it is not fair but after seeing a young woman struggling with a handicapped man who wanted to leave the store without her I was thinking it would be easier if he had the diversion of being pushed...
