Please excuse another question.... this is our first cruise ever and in less than two weeks!

Do you get a rotational dining schedule for breakfast and lunch or is it every person for himself at the other buffet style restaurants or pizza takeout type places?? Thanks!

Neither.

No rotational schedule for breakfast and lunch--you eat where you wish during the hours the various places are open.

There is always one sit down place open for each meal. The buffet is also open (longer hours), as are the fast food outlets and room service. You look at the hours on the back page of the Navigator...or on the Navigator app on your phone. You can see the menu posted outside the restaurant after the preceding meal (breakfast menu is posted in the evening after dinner), or again on the app and decide where/when you wish to eat.

Depending on the ship and day, there may be more than one restaurant open for lunch. For instance, on the Magic, Lumiere's will often be doing a sit down breakfast and lunch while Carioca's will do a buffet lunch with a theme (Italian buffet, seafood buffet, etc), while Cabana's on deck 9 will do a "normal" buffet. Your choice where and when you eat.

I've only cruised once (so far) on DCL and after we discovered something other than the buffet, we were happier! Something about carrying around a tray looking for a spot to sit down stresses me out, I love having service and meeting another cast member!

Haven't yet tried room service, next time!

We love the sit downs at breakfast and lunch. And you are right about meeting another serving team. Also, you are often asked if you would mind sharing a table of if you'd prefer to eat alone (this if you go in as a single or couple....they don't ask people with 4 kids about sharing!) We've made some great friends at these times as well.

A couple of times, we've met servers so good that we've requested them on future cruises.

The buffet does have a greater food selection, but sitting down is good. Room service...yeah, that's another issue. First you have to get them to understand what you want (SKIM milk, etc). Then, half the time the food is cold by the time it gets to you. And don't try anything HARD. My daughter got 3 boxes of Rice Krispies, but tried to tell them that she only needed one bowl. She got 4 bowls and spoons. 3 + 1 extra!
