mrandmrsdd Posted March 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2015 Question for anyone living in Singapore? First, Let me give my respect to the people of Singapore for the lost of their national leader and founder who has shaped Singapore to what it is today, they have lost a remarkable men with so much insight. I have read that Singapore will observe a week of National Morning followed by a state funeral scheduled for March 29th. We will be taking our first trip to Singapore, arriving on the March 26th so we will be part of the experience for that week. We expect increased security measure, very busy airport, trafic jam, and possibly some national buildings to be closed. Question??? Does the above sounds reasonable and what else could we expect for that week. Thanks for any reply and looking forward to visit this amazing city/state Diane
ASing1Cruise Posted March 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2015 Due to the wake, there will be Road blocks in front and around the Parliament House. Public is advise to take Public transport (MRT) instead of driving. Not sure how it will affect the Hop On Hop Off bus as traffic will be affect when it goes from Marina Bay to China Town via the Parliament House. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/traffic-arrangements-for/1734200.html You will have no problems with airport transit or cruise terminal transit. Iluvcruising2 Posted March 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 25, 2015 There will be minimal disruption, this being Singapore. I believe Mr Lee Kuan Yew would want us to get on with it. Everything will be opened. Just stay away from the Parliament House area, which is not in any touristy area. Have a great time in Singapore.
