eponym Posted March 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2015 That is, Carnival Cabin Conundrum (CCC) 8 Day Southern Caribbean. Sunshine. We are booked and paid into a Porthole PP rate at $4xx. For $270 more PP ($540 total more) should we leap into an obstructed balcony? Is it really that beneficial for $500+ more, or is that better spent/played in the casino or for extra 'special' excursions/shopping/steakhouse? We travel from Cali, so there are steep flight costs to do the Caribbean floats for us. Extra $500 spends here or there makes us wary when its not like an extended, wrap or upgraded balcony offer. tandemcruzr Posted March 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2015 I'd keep the port hole.
cruizinisthebest Posted March 26, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 26, 2015 For $500 more I would keep my porthole. If you can get a balcony for less money down the line, then move. When is your cruise?
mrpayroll Posted March 26, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 26, 2015 I would stay put. :) If you were pleased booking the port hole to start, why change ?
ready2cruzagain Posted March 26, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 26, 2015 I would keep the porthole cabin just like the others. I love porthole cabins!!

The nautical look and feel works for us/ We would enjoy a balcony bump if the rate for one drops a bit more. Issue is that Portholes are going up on this sailing now, while balconies are steady rate...

That said, only you can decide if the additional cost (more than double your current price) is worth it to you.

Never been on Sunshine, and never had a balcony (yet). This is our 7th Carnival cruise and an 8 day. It is a real struggle, because if the ship is super crowded on decks a balcony could be extra useful for some tranquility. Yet the price difference (percentage increase of fare) to get into one is pretty substantial.
