guidobiker Posted April 1, 2015 #26 Share Posted April 1, 2015 I was also on the Liberty last week and while we had a good time, because there were 11 of us, and the ports were gorgeous, the ship was not nearly as good as it was when we sailed in September plus our room steward was horrible. Old cereal boxes left over in room, refrig with broken shelf and exploded pop he never did clean. He didn't leave the breakfast order forms we had to keep asking for them and we never did get the snooze/cruise hanger. Also, he replaced beach towels once only. I am disappointed in the CL cutbacks. The ship did not have the mexican midnight buffet, the chocolate buffet, and Deck BBQ, the sushi bar or the salad bar on Deck 3 like in the past. They comedians were good, the other shows just so so. I loved the ports. We did the Baths in Tortola, would not miss that. We used Egbert to get there which is a whole different story. In St Kitts we had a fabulous Taxi driver, she took us to cockelshell beach and we did a little site seeing with her (including Robert Redfords house). St Kitts is beautiful. In St Thomas we used Godfrey Tours and it was awesome, though we didn't have much beach time but the Banana daquiri and rum punches were great and the narrator was very interesting. Last but not least was St Marteen and we just did a little shopping on our own and then walked into town, less then a mile, no need to pay a taxi or water ferry. That is certainly the place to shop. I think I may have some phone numbers if anyone wants them. ********************************************************************************************************************************** What deck was that steward on? My wife and I are sailing in 4 weeks on the Liberty. First time on the Liberty for us but my daughter has sailed with her and is so far her favorite ship. They both are currently sailing on the Breeze and spending the day in Curacao. I got to stay home with the dog. :D
Vacay mom Posted April 1, 2015 #27 Share Posted April 1, 2015 I was on this sailing also! It was our first and has set the bar high!! St kitts has plenty to do at the port with lots of port shopping. Tortola is a MUST to visit, we did cane garden bay beach and it was our favourite port day. Our Stewart was awesome!! No complaints at all. Vacay mom Posted April 1, 2015 #28 Share Posted April 1, 2015 I also tried to book a future cruise on board and was told the same. I had no idea about the chocolate buffet but I was happily on the beach during the time you say it was provided. I didn't like San Juan at all with the exception of señor frogs which was awesome... It was a busy cruise that I'm still recovering from ha ha
funinthesun1964 Posted April 1, 2015 Author #29 Share Posted April 1, 2015 We loved Cane Garden Bay. I had been to the Baths last year in February, so I wanted to try a different place. I really liked it and enjoyed the time there. It was a beautiful day, we also were able to rent kayaks for $10/half hour. Here are some pictures from that day. First, the area in the port, with the open-air taxis to take you to Cane Garden Bay ($8 pp each way)

funinthesun1964 Posted April 1, 2015 Author #32 Share Posted April 1, 2015 Out of the town and into the scenic area.....and after this we got into some steep hills and around the mountain, you know what I mean...and in some places the roads had no guard rails...yikes! A little scary! Some houses had driveways that seemed to just go straight down. It was an adventure! funinthesun1964 Posted April 1, 2015 Author #33 Share Posted April 1, 2015 We pick out some chairs and Scott lays claim to them. Look! Daquairis 2 for $7!!!! I end up with two painkillers....one for $3.00 and one little larger one for $5.00. This was our view from the chairs:

funinthesun1964 Posted April 2, 2015 Author #41 Share Posted April 2, 2015 We didnt plan an excursion here. We had been here in 2012, and at that time we did a ziplining tour which included a drive through part of the island. We decided this time we would just walk off the ship and look around the port, and in fact we briefly left the port area and walked through a couple of city streets. Lots of small shops here
funinthesun1964 Posted April 2, 2015 Author #42 Share Posted April 2, 2015 A museum, which we didn't go to. Selling different types of drinks here, and maybe even a couple of food items. A city park outside of the port
funinthesun1964 Posted April 2, 2015 Author #43 Share Posted April 2, 2015 We went back to the port area and stopped inside this covered area (there was a bar in the middle, and tables around it) to have a couple of drinks. They were advertising that their specialty drink was Dirty Monkey (I think that's what it was called), so I had a couple. They were good and strong. The girls had that, and the guys had Dirty Banana. The drinks were very tasty. It was a good place to people-watch too. We looked around in another shop or too and saw a bar advertising beers for a buck. So we took them up on it. And back to the ship. We went out on deck and relaxed. We would have a full day the next day, with St. Maarten and Bernard's Tours. Will share photos on that day later. CruisinTeacher4 Posted April 5, 2015 #47 Share Posted April 5, 2015 I'd love to hear your thoughts on Bernard's Tour and see pics. We are thinking of booking him for June. Would you recommend?
funinthesun1964 Posted April 5, 2015 Author #48 Share Posted April 5, 2015 Yes, we had a great time with Bernard's Tours. Last time we were in St. Maarten, we rented 4 wheelers and went around the island by ourselves. We tried to find Orient Beach, but had no luck. This time, we were taken there in an air-conditioned vehicle with beer/water/soft drinks, along with other stops. Yes, I would recommend.
funinthesun1964 Posted April 5, 2015 Author #49 Share Posted April 5, 2015 We woke up on St. Maarten day to have breakfast on Lido. While we were there, we heard Alpha announcements. We figured it was some kind of drill going on, as we had heard before. This time, though, we learned that there was smoke on the lower decks of the ship  The CD (Felipe) announced this, then said that everything was under control and to just go about our day and disembark whenever we wanted. When we did, we saw this: No pictures were being taken at this port because of all the ruckus going on. We found out that a thruster bearing had needed replaced, and that was done and we were on our way out of the dock at 5pm that evening as planned. Anyway, back to the port. We had booked Bernard's Tours beforehand. We paid $50 pp with a $5 deposit (online) and we picked tour #2. This included a stop at Orient Beach, Maho Beach, Marigot for some shopping, plus we stopped to see some iguanas and another short stop in a scenic area. Soft drinks, beer, water, some type of rum punch was provided. The rum punch was only served in a small cup, but it was strong. The guide was informative and nice, and always explained to us at each stop where to go, and what time to be back at the bus, etc. We were to meet in the port area at 8:30 and our tour started at 9. I think we were back by 1:30. This was part of the group waiting for the tour (they ran several buses) The driver stopped at several places and asked if anyone would like to take a picture.
