Snorkel from the beach

We have our own equipment that we purchased at a dive shop so that it fit well. We do have shorty packable fins that we take, but only use them half of the time. I enjoy using fins so that I can go farther out. I don't wear water shoes if I'm snorkeling. Either bare feet or fins. I think watershoes make it hard to swim.

If you are staying near shore and just puttering around, you don't need fins. If you want to go a longer distance or do some diving down, I would consider fins.

Many people will take their own mask and snorkel, then rent the fins only at a nearby rental area. That's also an idea.

I HIGHLY recommend having your own mask and snorkel to ensure a good fit. A good mask and snorkel are much more comfortable that rental gear....usually.
