Carnival Victory 4/23 - Coba in Cozumel?

We wanted to do the Coba Mayan excursion but I missed booking the excursion through the ship (I think it's full, couldn't get help/info when I called Carnival, they told me to check when I got on board).

My question - it appears Coba closes at 5pm and it takes 3 1/2 hours to get there, which wouldn't leave much time there. Has anyone gone/booked this excursion and know anything about the timing? I have found private tour operators that I am also trying to get answers from but was hoping someone here would know. thanks.

I would never book an excursion that far away with anyone but the cruiseline. The chance of getting behind is too great. Hopefully when on the boat slots will come open. Also keep in mind local time may be different that ship time. The ship will usually stay on home port's time the entire cruise.
