micbooth Posted September 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2005 We are leaving 10-9-05 on the Mariner and have a question. We have never been to Grand Cayman before. If we decide not to do the ships excursions and not book with a private co. will there be someone at the pier who will do like Stingray City, Hell and the Turtle Farm for a reasonable price? If so, who? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Mick
TheWog Posted September 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2005 We saw many vendors offering Stingray City tours at the pier. I didn't price them out though as we were only looking to go to Hell and Seven Mile beach.
Trainacomin Posted September 8, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2005 There are several(you can't miss them, you will have to walk past/thru them to get to the street) vendors on the pier with all the trips the ship offers. I didn't think our tour guide was going to show so I started pricing. Stingray Sandbar was between 30-40 on the pier. The other trips were comparable to the prices you see for private vendors online and still cheaper than the ship. However I would book with someone in advance so you can get some feedback about the company from the boards here. We were given a free excursion when we booked our trip. I used it for Stingray City. The bus driver never showed and the tour coordinator(or whatever she was) had us wait over an hour for the tour owners wife to show up and drive the bus. Once out to the sandbar they were great but it killed quite a bit of our time in GC. Clint
ccrn Posted September 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2005 We pre-booked online with Soto's for Stingray City. After their tour, they dropped us off per our request at the Hyatt. From there we took a taxi to the turtle farm and hell, and back to the dock. We still had time for shopping afterwards.
micbooth Posted September 10, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted September 10, 2005 Thanks for your answers. I think I am going to call Capt. Marvins this morning to book. Mick

Hi, Could you please tell me how much was your taxi fare from turtle farm/hell to the pier? We are a party of 6 and would need a van taxi, are they available down there? Thanks
TheWog Posted September 26, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2005 Hi, Could you please tell me how much was your taxi fare from turtle farm/hell to the pier? We are a party of 6 and would need a van taxi, are they available down there? Thanks We paid $10 per person to take us from Georgetown to Hell and to Seven Mile Beach. Most taxis are small bus type vehicles and can easily carry 6 people. I would guess about $7 per person or so for your needs.
