creef1014 Posted April 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2015 If carnival drops the price and I make them match it, what happens if the price drops again even further? Will they match every price drop or only once?
jcearth Posted April 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2015 Every single time - it is a game that if you pay attention you can rack up some very nice Onboard credit.
maritaysa Posted April 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2015 They will price match until final payment. If you booked early saver, then you'll receive price drops in the form of OBC until 2 days before sailing.
ly26 Posted April 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2015 In the past, when I've booked Early Saver, I've applied for and gotten multiple price drops. You need to be sure what rate you booked under as to whether or not you can get price drops after final payment due date.
carni05 Posted April 6, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2015 Does the price drop apply if I've booked through a travel agent too? I used RCI points to get a reduced cabin rate, they use a travel agency to book the cruise.

It does - I'm booked with a TA & have been credited for 3 drops totaling $400 so far - I have to do the footwork though (continual price checking) and as I'm booked "past cruiser" my drops will only count up to final payment due date - as an aside I spent $5 to a website that once I put my details in does a daily update of pricing & emails me once a price drop in my category on my sail date comes through - it worked! I still find I look anyway! :p (cruise (no space) fish (no space) dot (no space) NET.

maritaysa Posted April 6, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 6, 2015 Up until final payment, they will price match by reducing the cost of your cruise which reduces what you owe at final payment. After that and up until 2 days before sailing, they'll price match in the form of onboard credit.
cricket958 Posted April 6, 2015 #10 Share Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) I just received my 2nd price drop in less than two weeks as I check fare viewer on a daily basis. The rates had dropped again by a small amount. We also received a flyer in the mail for $40 casino cash which I asked about. Turns out not only they did Carnival apply the casino cash to our credits, but the flyer offered a lower rate than was currently posted under the fare viewer. The phone call today saved me another $60 from my last price drop. Edited April 6, 2015 by cricket958

thomarvin Posted April 7, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) I booked Early Saver. So will they price match until final payment or 2 days before sailing? Yes but you have to do the work. They don't just do it. You need to fill out the form. Here's a link to that. I check multiple times a day. So far I am down $510 per cabin and have $60 in OBC that I got after final payment. http://www.carnival.com/request-forms/price-protection-claim.aspx Edited April 7, 2015 by thomarvin

Sparky2 Posted April 7, 2015 #16 Share Posted April 7, 2015 Is the only way to check for a price drop to try booking the same cruise in the same cabin? Thanks in advance... Go to Carnival.com/BookingEngine/fareviewer. However, if you are Military but booked ES or other, it pays to do a "mock booking" on Carnival.com because Military do not show up in FareViewer. picomullet Posted April 7, 2015 #18 Share Posted April 7, 2015 Ok say you are booked past guest but you see ES is the same rate but with $50 obc. It is before final payment. Are you eligible to match to that?

Mkehlb Posted April 7, 2015 #20 Share Posted April 7, 2015 So, my cabin category, 8c, dropped by $20 under the spring it on sale. So I submitted a price protection form. I got a form email telling me the new rate was higher than the old rate. Huh? So this happened before and I called Carnival and the nice folks fixed it. So I called yesterday and they told me if they gave me that drop I would actually lose $30 of the OBC I already have. They seemed to imply that only other Early Saver fares count toward the price drop. Can anyone help me make sense of this?
BigRed93 Posted April 7, 2015 #21 Share Posted April 7, 2015 If the higher fate had the OBC perk -$50 or whatever -and the lower fare did not offer it, you would get the price drop but lose the OBC associated with that other fare. So now you have to only apply for drops that are lower than you current fare +$50. Or if the new fare includes promotional OBC again. Make sense? Mkehlb Posted April 8, 2015 #22 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Maybe? VERY math challenged. Let me try a hypothetical. Let's say with my current rate hi have $50 OBC. The new rate is $20 less. So I would lose the original $50 and only gain the $20 OBC, thus losing $30. Right? so in order to get a worthwhile drop, I have to wait till the new fare is at least $51 less than the current fare so I won't lose the $50 OBC. Is that right?
