How long does dinner in the MDR take?

Recommended Posts

I think the amount of time sometimes depends on what's happening at the table. The servers are very good at gauging the crowd. Sometimes conversations are very interesting and people just naturally don't hurry. Other times there isn't much reason for the servers to slow the pace and you get through really quickly.

You can always say you're in a hurry if you want to get through quicker some night. Also, if you are doing MTD you can request a table for two and specifically mention that you have somewhere else to be.

We really enjoy the slow leisurely dining experience on cruises so we are seldom in a hurry. Dinner typically takes 1 1/2 hours or so and we just plan on it being that way. We don't get to spend fun dinners with people on land every night so we look forward to the elegant and slow paced experience.

There have been a few times when we wanted to make it to a game or show or something that would have been tricky with a long dinner so we chose to go to the Windjammer instead. There you can pace it any way you'd like.

For us, cruising is all about doing "stuff" you don't normally do during regular life. We like the differences (getting dressed up more than we would usually, eating food we don't usually eat, meeting new people, being served, etc.)

It's kind of nice to slow down for a change as well.
