DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 21, 2015 Author #76 Share Posted April 21, 2015 After they talked I went out onto the wing at the front of the solarium. Just because I saw many a person confused as to how to get out there... Just look for the lights and swipe your hand. I love the view from here. DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 21, 2015 Author #77 Share Posted April 21, 2015 So these are the last runners to the ship. These two were faster and actually ran as far as I could see. This one apparently was not a runner and was picked up by the shuttle. There was then a fairly long delay until we actually sailed away. I do also have a video of when the ship pulled away including when I jumped when the horn was blown (despite Bugsy having warned me that it might happen). DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 21, 2015 Author #78 Share Posted April 21, 2015 I really liked the way the lights of St. Kitts were showing in the VB. We then went to the beginning of the Battle of the Sexes Gameshow. It was fun, but we really wanted to see the Dancing with the Stripes Gameshow. Dru had made it sound really appealing on the morning show. Thanks to Trish and Sharon we had really good seats to see it. And it was a blast. It was a very fun day and of all the islands we went to I thought St. Kitts was the most beautiful.
DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 22, 2015 Author #79 Share Posted April 22, 2015 (edited) It was a beautiful and mostly lazy day for us. I went to the Windjammer for breakfast and brought mom some from there. We then both went to the back of the Windjammer to watch the ocean and to get mom some more coffee. We just relaxed there until time for lunch. We talked with a nice older couple from New York during lunch in American icon. But we talked so much that I had to skip getting dessert to make it to the 270 robot shows. After the shows Puss in Bootz did a shot performance and then had a photo opportunity. It was fun. We then went to the show in a bar to catch the mental battle of the sexes game. We then watched the bling it on parade. It was very cute. DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 22, 2015 Author #80 Share Posted April 22, 2015 We then just did some more relaxing, went to dinner and went to bed early.
DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 22, 2015 Author #81 Share Posted April 22, 2015 We slept in some and then went to breakfast in the windjammer. We started out outside, but then it started to rain. So we finished breakfast inside. According to Captain Felix's later announcement, we only went into the rain because he went to get coffee. We then went back to the room to change in the swimsuits and go to a hot tub. Then lunch in American icon so I could get the desserts I missed yesterday. Now were off to 270 again. :)
sea-cruise Posted April 22, 2015 #82 Share Posted April 22, 2015 It's so nice to see you and your mom enjoying the cruise together! My mom lived with us for 16 years & we use to go places together whenever my husband was away for a few days at a time. I miss her, and your posts make me smile! Great pics & review! Carry on having all the fun you can! :) :)
DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 22, 2015 Author #83 Share Posted April 22, 2015 We caught the end of the robo shows bit since we'd seen them before, it was fine. While waiting for the Shrek and Fiona performance, we listened to technology of 270 talk. That's where we found out the Red nightclub thing last night would have been something we would have liked. We happened upon a rehearsal for it one day way earlier in the cruise. Anyway the Shrek and Fiona performance was okay, but the Puss in Boots one from the day before was much better. Then we went to room for a short rest to make sure we have enough energy to stay up for the late start of Quest tonight.

DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 22, 2015 Author #85 Share Posted April 22, 2015 (edited) The plan had been to go to a cartoon theme song trivia. But when we got there at about 5 minutes til time to start, the Schooner Bar was packed and there was no sign of a seat for me. So since I'm still not up for standing for that long, we decided to just go ahead with finding a seat for the parade. Today has really been the first day I really felt like there were ~4000 people on the ship, other than times like the muster drill. The parade was fun though. Now we're having a short relaxation on the heated beds before we got to get dressed for this evening's fun. DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 22, 2015 Author #86 Share Posted April 22, 2015 So I stood in line for ~1 hour prior to opening the theater time, but we got the front row seats Mom wanted. Unfortunately she did have to climb the stairs for it since the elevator is broken to get down to the bottom level. The handicap seating at the entrance level is just bad, especially for a show like this since you can't see the top of the stage. We're hoping this is really good since we've been looking forward to it ever since it was announced.
DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 23, 2015 Author #87 Share Posted April 23, 2015 Sonic Odyssey was absolutely fabulous. While we have missed there being more production shows, I'm happy enough with the trade for the two wonderful and high caliber shows of Mama Mia and Sonic Odyssey. DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 23, 2015 Author #88 Share Posted April 23, 2015 Dinner in AIG was good. We then went to Music Hall to catch Savannah Jack. They were very fun, but by then my knee had started to really hurt again. Due to this and the possibility of having to be in a large crowd, we ended up skipping Quest. We came back to the room to find a very cute monkey towel animal. This morning we got to AIG just barely I'm time for breakfast. Today the ship is moving a lot. We got a window seat for breakfast to enjoy the white caps. After breakfast, I was able to get pictures of the pretty glass panel art things in AIG since it was mostly empty by then. This one is our favorite of them: Now we are enjoying what will likely be our last visit to the thermal suite. Whatever free time we have later, will need to be spent on packing. DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 23, 2015 Author #89 Share Posted April 23, 2015 We then went to 270 and enjoyed the waves while waiting for the penguin performance. The performance was fun. I did get a photo with them afterward. After the performance, Trish and Sharon appeared who were coming for the Captain's Corner. We had a nice visit where we found out that we had both dined next to a complaining couple. But they had been unlucky enough to have them 3 times and their stories were much worse than ours. But it was good for a laugh.
DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 23, 2015 Author #90 Share Posted April 23, 2015 We then went to lunch at Jamie's where we got a window view with just a short wait. Second only to Wonderland, this was our best meal onboard, and well worth the $15 each. This bread was sooooooo good. And mmmmmmm on the mushroom tart. Mom had been hoping to have the prawns dish just without the pasta that came with it. But they said they couldn't modify that way. But they did bring her this fabulous shrimp in a garlic butter that was to die for. She also had the chicken while I had the lasagna. Loved my desert too. And one more window shot just cause I love waves.
DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 23, 2015 Author #91 Share Posted April 23, 2015 So then we caught the end of Friendly Feud. It was fun. After that we went and did our free slot pulls. I won a keychain again. Then we went and watched the Shrek parade. It turned out to be the same as the one I saw on a previous day. But this time we watched from upstairs. Then we went back to the room to rest a little and then finish packing.
DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 24, 2015 Author #92 Share Posted April 24, 2015 After packing and putting the bags out, we went to try and see Sonic Odyssey again. We had moved dinner to later to be able to catch it again. They let us in at 7:10 despite no reservations. This time though we saw it from the balcony. We were in front row of the balcony once they released the suite/pinnacle seating at near show time. It was neat to see it from a different perspective. DM_KidAtHeart Posted April 24, 2015 Author #94 Share Posted April 24, 2015 On the way to dinner at Grande, we stopped at the Wonderland chair for pictures. It's been a good cruise even with the bumps along the way.

tapchus Posted April 24, 2015 #96 Share Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) Enjoyed reading your adventures on the Q, DM. Welcome home. Thanks for giving the thumbs up for Mamma Mia! and Sonic Odyssey. My daughter is one of the performers in the shows (the little Chinese girl). I'll let her know you enjoyed the shows. Oh, she was also one of the elves in the Dreamworks Shrek parade in the Royal Promenade. Be well. Edited April 24, 2015 by tapchus

hollon Posted April 24, 2015 #98 Share Posted April 24, 2015 So I’m planning to do my first ever live thread for my upcoming 40th birthday cruise on Quantum. I’ve planned more into this cruise than I ever have for my others with my excuse being “hey it’s my 40th birthday, so let’s have fun”. MEET THE CAST: I travel with my mother who is disabled. She walks with her stick some for limited distances and times, and the rest of the time I push her in her wheelchair. She does occasionally push or wheel her chair herself too. We’ve both been working to lose weight over the past few years. I’m down around 40 pounds total so far, and she’s down around 100 lbs total so far. She’ll be sticking to our current plan mostly while on the cruise. I will not. I’m quite okay with gaining some weight back for my 40th celebration. I love to take pictures. I do actually own a real camera (Nikon DSLR), but all my photos posted will just be with my iPhone 5. Why? Because it’s just easier and faster. Also I just don’t feel like lugging the heavier real one along. This is a couple of shots of us from our last cruise. THE ITINERARY: So I made a spreadsheet to keep track of all I planned. OUR STATEROOM: When we first booked (a year ago on the previous birthday cruise), there were not any handicapped rooms available. So we resigned ourselves to an occasional banged shin on the folded up wheelchair and booked the large interior to at least give us a little extra room. As some started cancelling their early Quantum reservations as the poor first reviews came in, I rechecked a lot and one day ecstatically found a large interior handicapped had opened up. I called RC as fast as I could and we will be in room 10171. IN SUMMARY: I’m very excited to start this 40th birthday adventure, and I do also plan to review/summarize our pre- and post- cruise activities in NYC as well. :) I'm from Maryville, TN - just wanted to say thanks for the review to say hello to a nearby neighbor :)
TN56 Posted April 28, 2015 #99 Share Posted April 28, 2015 All things in considered it was wonderful cruise: Top things fun things about the ship in no particular order 1) quirky art - especially in elevators 2) metal sculpture butterflies 3) gigantic pink bear 4 ) I Fly 5) Northstar Cons 1) frequently out of order handicapped elevator in both Royal Theatre & the 270 2) either the way blocked or no way to the handicapped lift chairs to ALL hot tubs - I am stubborn & got there anyway :-) Top Entertainment: 1) Mama Mia! 2) Sonic Odyssey - we saw it twice :D I could have gone every night! Shore excursions - I loved loved loved the green monkeys! Really fun watching my DD go Monkey hunting at the beach on St. Kitts. Cons The horse riding excursion from my side was a disaster - Royal refunded $$ so that's good. Meals I really enjoyed all restaurants except The Windjammer. The head waiters went out of way to accommodate my dietary needs. Wonderland was incredible! The waiter we had at Jamie's was awesome as was the food!! Cons I have specialized dietary needs - gluten & flour free, corn free to name just a few. One previous cruises I told the waiter/head waiter once. This cruise at every!!! meal I had to repeat the list & on more than occasion also re-explain the list. I had one waiter tell me an item on the was just there for decoration :-/ Once they understood, they were very accommodating, but repeating it over & over got very old! Crew Our room steward was probably the best ever. I loved Dru's dry wit as well as Hugo's infectious enthusiasm. Con I wish that someone convince new crew to say "I do not know" when they do not know. We were given the wrong info any number of times on the trip - way more any other trip.
