Sapphire Beach Construction

Heading to St Thomas in 3 weeks and had read that Sapphire Beach is under construction. Could somebody please confirm if this is true, if so what is being done? Would you recommend still going, or could you give any other recommendations? Does anybody know the taxi fare/time to get to sapphire? Thank you all for your input!!

Have read that taxi is $10.00 per person each way. About twenty minutes away.

The construction at Sapphire will not be begining until June 1, 2015. The E building is being repaired and remodeled but it is not even on Sapphire Beach as it is around the corner and on a non swiming beach so even when the construction is taking place it will not have any impact on the beach side of the resort.

 

The taxi cost depends on which dock the ship is docked as there is Havensight, and Crown Bay. Crown is on the far side of the harbor so will probably cost $12/person each way (taxis charge per person). The time depends on the traffic, if it is a busy cruise ship day it may take close to an hour.
