Looking forward to it. I hope we get to meet onboard.

Dresterj - my husbands birthday is just before the cruise so I might surprise him with something onboard. Did your group do any sort of advance planning for this birthday?

Hey,

We have not done much planning beyond booking our rooms for the cruise and coordinating dinner time, lol. My buddy's (who was also my best man) birthday was actually last week but he could not convince his other friends to travel so close to the holidays.

Let me know if you come up with any ideas. I may steal them and share with our group. [emoji4]

Are you traveling with a group? Or just the two of you?

We are solo this trip. It should be interesting. I am a night person and my Al is an early to bed guy. If I come up with any ideas, will pass them on. We have a bunch of OBC so going to do a specialty restaurant at least once.

Hey GuyToPlay,

I was on Celebrity Reflection two years ago. The traditional confirmed cruise seating was on the first floor of the main dining room. That was where people set at tables for specific times every night with people from other rooms that met and shared tables together. The second floor of the main dining room was for select seating. It was just like going to a regular restaurant. You just walk up to the hostess and tell her how many people are in your party (1, 2, 4, or 6) and you get seated. You can also meet people from the bar, pool, or elsewhere on the ship that also have select seating and you can get a larger table just like any restaurant on land.

We have dinner at a particular time because of the size of our group. Although I'd much rather have select, so I can go when I actually feel hungry rather than a set schedule.

Less than 3 weeks!

When is everyone getting into Miami? My husband and I arrive the morning of, but most of the others in my group get in on Friday.

Will you do the gay meet ups?

I fly in on Wednesday and my family flies in on Thursday. We are staying in South Beach for a few days before the cruise.

As far as select dinning, I would call the cruise line and ask. They can tell you okay or they can say no. If not, at least you have a group of people to enjoy dinner with.

On the last cruise that i took, I went to the FoD happy hour twice and no one else showed up. I realized that after dinner, groups of gay passengers meet in the bar near the entrance to the casino. It was called the molecular bar. I heard that they are changing the name of it but I don't know if it has been changed yet. It became our meeting area every night after dinner. We ended up all hanging out a the pool and on-board each night. They said that the Molecular Bar was where everyone usually met on Celebrity ships. That most people didn't go to the FoD mixers anymore because they are scheduled at weird times when people are having dinner etc.

The Molecular Bar has been changed to the World Class Bar on the Reflection. Someone posted a menu on another thread, and the drinks look good.

On my last Celebrity cruise, I was with a group of five and we hung out at the Molecular Bar nightly as well. We tried the FOD gathering once, but like your experience, no one was there. We had a drink and then headed to the Molecular Bar for more. This time there are 13 in our group and we are already planning to hit up the World Class Bar.
