Last Minute?

I believe post-9/11 the passenger manifest needs to be finalized within 3 days of the sailing date. (Somebody, correct me if I'm wrong about this.)

 

I guess that means a cruise line will attempt to sell off any empty cabins up until 4 days before sailing. At that late a date, you would either receive your documents through email or at the pier.

hmmm my understanding is somewhat different. I believe a list must be supplied to home land security 48 hours before the ship sails. There is also a requirement that names be supplied before a ship enters a US Port(which I thought was 96 hours) so depending on where the ship is heading that list may be due as well. Remember the US CG kicked out a ship from Charleston because the list wasn't timely filed. The curise lines need sometime to prepare list so they close the boooking sometime before the times listed above.
