Port or Starboard for Anthem

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am new to Royal Caribbean, only have cruised on Disney. We booked a cruise on the Anthem for July 9, 2016 to Bermuda. The staterooms we have booked are on Deck 12, mid ship, port side. Is one side better then the other? I have a travel agent who can rebook us and the number of rooms and types we need are also available midship, starboard.

Thoughts??

Thanks so much!!

Debbie

The rooms themselves are virtually identical on either side. Of course the view may be different, but there's no way to know in advance which side will be towards the pier. That decision is made at the time of docking based on which dock is available, other traffic in port, wind and currents, etc.

Smoking on balconies is no longer permitted, so that doesn't enter into the equation. That is, unless smoke wafts your way from a designated smoking area. Designated smoking areas could be on the port or starboard side depending on the ship:

That said, we don't like smoke and are still booked on the starboard side of Anthem due to a specific cabin preference. :)

Almost forgot, you may want to consider the time of day, direction of travel on sea days, and where the sun will be in relation to your cabin (if it has a balcony.)

As you can see, not major differences.
