stephen@stoneyard.co.uk Posted September 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2005 You often get stories in the press about Tesco or Argos putting the wrong price on their websites. Widescreen TV for 5 GBP usually. Here is one for us. Seaview Cruises http://www.seaview.co.uk is offering Southampton to Fort Lauderdale (via New York) departing 2 nd January 2007. The price is 431 GBP including travel by air back to the UK. Unfortunately when I tried to book, I was told it was a mistake. Never mind, might book anyway. Best wishes, Stephen. transat_jon Posted September 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2005 Two weeks back, I saw somewhere listing 3 nights Vegas (including helecopter over grand canyon), 2 nights NY and QM2 westbond for £800. Sadly was also a mistake.
rjms74 Posted September 11, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2005 Stephen, It's interesting that you mention the 8 night Transat Crossing to Ft Lauderdale on QE2 for 2007 as I have tried to get prices & availability from 2 travel agents I usually book with for all my Cunard cruises and they have both advised that this segment is only bookable if you are doing a long sector on the WC! One though did say that it might be available to book from Oct / Nov after Cundard sees how the full WC sells. Kind Regards, RJMS74
heywood Posted September 11, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2005 My copy of 2006 brochure lays out very clearly how to cost a crossing with three nights hotel stay and a flight upgrade. The crossing and upgrade both state 2 @ £ but the hotel just states 3 nights @ £. As we are often told that USA hotels charge 'per room' not 'per person' I followed this example to cost our trip. My t.a. quoted the hotel room price x 2 - I queried this, she checked and was told that it does say in the small print at the bottom- 'this price is per person'. I later contacted Cunard to check (one more try!)- the assistant went off and returned saying yes it was a printing error. As the phone calls warn you that any price quoted only lasts for the duration of the telephone call it seems likely that no two people every pay the same. In the end I still thought it was a good price and booked anyway. We want to go and that's it.
stephen@stoneyard.co.uk Posted September 12, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted September 12, 2005 There have been so many mistakes in Cunard litrature recently. Unfortunately they dont have to honour what they publish. I thought that example of crossing/hotel/upgrade looked good value but could not work out what was wrong. I too was told the only way to book the Winter Crossing for 2000 was to book a longer segment on the World Cruise. No doubt that will change. Best wishes,Stephen.
