backnine05 Posted April 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2015 A little help is needed - I booked an 8 day cruise on the breeze about 10 days ago or so for a June sailing. It is after the final payment date and is obviously fully paid for. We booked under the More=Merrier promotion. Well, about a week after we booked, I noticed that the total price of the cruise decreased about $100 for the same More=Merrier promotion. Obviously this doesn't make me too happy. It is basically punishing me for booking a little earlier than someone else. Anyways, do you think that there is anyway I could recoup the difference through OBC or a refund? Any advice and help is appreciated. I know that as per the rules, I am not subject to any price protection, just curious if anyone has had luck with them bending the rules. carrieluvsgreg Posted April 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2015 It never hurts to call them, my gut says they won't. But the answer is no until you ask.
RuthlessBoss Posted April 24, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2015 You use the word cruise in a general way. Be sure you are talking the same exact category to compare.

cruizinisthebest Posted April 24, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 24, 2015 You are not being punished. With the sailing date coming up soon, they are trying to fill empty cabins. So they dropped the price. There are simply no fare rules that allow you to book this close and still get price adjustments after 48 hours of booking. Especially with a guaranteed rate, I seriously doubt they will bend the rules. Stop looking at prices. It'll drive you crazy! ;)
bradboy Posted April 25, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2015 It will drive you crazy. Ours went down 400 last year and we didn't get anything, Nada. We didnt
springs741 Posted April 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2015 Early Saver is the only rate that can price match after final payment. If you book ES you have certain restrictions that you must abide. That is the trade off.

ready2cruzagain Posted April 25, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 25, 2015 You can always try to upgrade And they should not be allowed to according to Carnival. OP thinks he is being punished because he booked late....to late for ES....but after he booked the price went down, so he thinks he should be compensated. I booked a year out and booked ES, with penalties if I cancel, and I would feel as though I am being taken advantage of if Carnival were to compensate him. I don't understand why people that do not book ES think they should be compensated after final payment.

He booked late and understands that and merely asked if there was a possibility of obc or if anyone else had this happen. He's not begging! And I don't understand why you're being so denigrating. I didn't interpret the OPs behavior as entitled. I think they're disappointed and wondering if its possible to get some of their money back. As a stockholder I hope its not because that would be bad business but I don't blame them for asking.
cruizinisthebest Posted April 25, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 25, 2015 Yeah really. Relax. The question had already been asked and properly answered anyway. The OP hasn't been back. They probably read the replies and dropped it. It can take some time to learn all the fare rules. Carnival certainly doesn't explain well. It's not that big of a deal. KPfromCT Posted April 25, 2015 #15 Share Posted April 25, 2015 OP, it never hurts to call Carnival and ask. Last year on our 8 night Breeze cruise, we booked at $4200 for 3 in a Lido Balcony. We did NOT book early saver. We ended up getting over $1500 in price drops in a 3 month period, BECAUSE, most of those rates carry the same RULES as Early Saver. More the Merrier was one of them. Good Luck!!!!

KPfromCT Posted April 25, 2015 #17 Share Posted April 25, 2015 Some before, some after. We had to make final payment like 2-3 weeks after we booked, so then instead of credit, we ended up with OBC. Not sure if anything has changed SINCE then, but we felt very lucky.

Is this the gist of your request? Edited April 25, 2015 by Out to sea!
