Kids on specialty restaurants no longer 50% discount

Thanks for confirming that, there have been several other folks who have reported the same.

How was everything else on your cruise? I know you had some concerns in regards to all the recent changes.

Royal Caribbean doesn't even allow kids in Specialty Restaurants. I have older teens and have to sneak them in like they are doing me a big favor.

Would you rather that?

I like the idea of NCL allowing kids but charging full price. You better really want to have your young child dine with you because you are paying full price for their meal. I think it encourages the best behaved kids in the venues, the kids that want to be eating there. If parents know their kids won't eat a thing and will be difficult to keep contained, they will think twice before paying full price.

Kids under 12 have a choice of free meal at specialty restaurants, actually. There is a free kids' menu in most specialty restaurants (as per announcement).

backsbanny,

I couldn't agree more. We booked the UDP several months ago for our upcoming Getaway cruise. At the time, we could not book the UDP for my daughter; with the 1/2 price meals, it didn't make sense. We've booked the Illusionarium the first night, which is included in our UDP, but paid full price for my daughter. Now NCL is saying they are charging the full price for my daughter to eat an appetizer from the specialty menus (that is typically all she orders). We can't cancel her full charge for the Illusionarium and re-book under the UDP, because NCL will no longer allow that. We're too late into the reservation to cancel the trip.

Like you, I plan spend the bare minimum on my trip.

My son (10 at the time) was allowed in two specialty restaurants on the Navigator of the Seas. No issue at all.
