SissasMomE Posted May 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2015 Hello all! New to this board. We have sailed RCCL, Princess, Carnival (once was enough) and mainly NCL for the past 6 years or so. I am very interested in the new Seaside, and definitely the Yacht Club. While this ship isn't yet built, I'm assuming the Yacht Club is similar fleet-wide ... so, what can you tell me about it? Thanks!

What we love the most, and what keeps us coming back over and over again, is how we are embraced and treated like family each and every time we board Divina. The personal service, the privacy,,the food, the amenities ,and the entertainment is nothing short of incredible!! We absolutely love Divina so it is going to be very hard for us to cheat on her,,,but we have every intention on sailing Seaside in 2017,,,maybe a back to back,,,one week on Seaside and one week on Divina,,so we won't feel so bad!!!:)

I am very interested in the new Seaside, and definitely the Yacht Club. While this ship isn't yet built, I'm assuming the Yacht Club is similar fleet-wide ... so, what can you tell me about it? Thanks! We loved the YC so much we have booked a B2B in November. The service is what you would expect at a 5 star resort. They anticipate your every need. They know what you like by day 2 and make sure you feel welcomed and special. It's like flying first class - once you do it you never want to go back to coach. The YC areas are never crowded always a pool chairs available ... no worries. The rooms are beautiful and the views are fabulous from the 15 -18th decks. I have done many NCL cruises including suites with butlers and hands down I think MSC YC is better. The prices are far better also. I know I will be booking the new seaside. There will be changes on the seaside with additional YC cabins and the YC dedicated restaurant will be close to the YC instead of on the other side of the ship like on the Davina. JuneauWhatIMean Posted May 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2015 Welcome SissasMomE! It's so nice to see you here. :D (But please don't tell anyone from the NCL board that you're here.....it'll be our little secret.....I don't want them all rushing over here and causing the prices to go up.) I cancelled our Dec. 5 Escape Haven Penthouse cruise for the Dec. 5 Divina Yacht Club YC1 suite cruise. I just couldn't roll over and accept all the negative changes at NCL anymore and voted with my wallet. The Divina will cost just about the same price but we'll get unlimited beverages in the Yacht Club and a far superior lounge and pool experience. And one of my favorite things- Free minibar! Here's a link to a related thread to get you started: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2205088 I was a little frightened about a "foreign" experience at first, but everyone here has put my mind at ease and now I'm super excited to try something new and wonderful! :) Cheers, Alison
coldflame Posted May 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2015 ProTip: if you have kids under and up to 11yo, you can have your cake and eat it too, so to speak. While YC class does not allow for free fare for kids (you pay 1/2 fare for each kid), you can book Suite w/ Balcony (Category S3) that let's you choose from top notch, ample split floor plans for substantial savings (in our case $2000). Granted we won't get butler or access to Le Muse or Top Sail, but we do get access to the private solarium/pool as well as unlimited drinks and coffee throughout the ship. Plus a 60-minute SPA treatment for each me and my wife. At least for us that's more than a reasonable trade off, specially when you look at the savings and what you give up. emerson621 Posted May 11, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 11, 2015 I agree with all of the above. Such a great experience. Mikesa1721 Posted May 11, 2015 #12 Share Posted May 11, 2015 Modes,,Riclop,,,you're both right!! Seaside is going to be an incredible ship and we can't wait to sail on her. I'm hoping Seaside will sail a more Southern Caribbean route though. St. Lucia, Barbados, etc. would be a nice change,,just not sure if those ports will have the capabilities of accepting that size of a ship. We're looking forward to Divina's altered itineraries this coming year though,,,we do love the overnight stay in San Juan!!!:D

My opinions are I think MSC needs to offer the Yacht Club cruisers unlimited drinks everywhere on the ship(matching the Aurea) and give 2x pts. in the loyalty club. What do you think?:) I would add that in comparing the Yacht Club to the NCL Haven, the Yacht Club wins easily, the price is about 25% less on MSC.:)

We purchased the Allegrissimo Adult All Inclusive for 244.00 pp. We had drinks all over the ship,,excluding the YC of course,,which made this a huge value for us. We are sailing on January 30th and have given considerable thought to sailing in the YC vs. steerage. We're leaning towards steerage right now, only because of our ability to go anywhere on the ship to get a drink, coffee,,pastries,,etc. We even get all the items in our mini bar for free,,so really,,it's a no brainer for us. Not only are we spending $3,800.00 less for the stateroom,,we are also acquiring points for the extras we are paying for.

andrewjb1 Posted May 11, 2015 #17 Share Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) Hello SissasMomE, Below is a recent blog i found via another site, don't know if I'm allowed to post it or not but Meh! I think you'll like it. Ive done Haven on all classes of Norwegian ship along with the YC on MSC. http://agiawellness.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/the-cruise-aboard-msc-divina-week-that.html?m=1 One thing I will say to you.... I read your post on the NCL page most days, I know how pissed to get with lack of clarity and corporate mishandling of information management. Now don't get me wrong, I adore the YC on the Divina but MSC really can blow NCL out for the water for corporate mismanagement of information! The onboard product is way ahead of NCL IMHO and Im a major NCL Fanboy. But dealing with corporate.... Well lets just say they have a history of making it up as they go along. Andrew. resstation Posted May 12, 2015 #18 Share Posted May 12, 2015 We HAPPILY pay the extra money for the YC, especially after seeing the main pool. No thank you. That was a zoo I wanted no part of. As for getting drinks all over the ship, we purchase the drink vouchers ahead of time (12 drinks for $72) and still get the MSC points. Frankly, other than the casino, we really don't spend that much time anywhere other than the YC and Le Muse. Purchasing a drink or two from another area isn't an issue. Considering the lower cost of YC as compared to any other cruise line suite afloat, it is definitely a deal we can't pass up. I nickle and dime all year long to get "deals" and "sales" and "bargains" just so I won't have to when I'm on vacation.

There was a thread on the NCL board (go figure) but the majority of the posts were removed by the board police. I was under the impression that the YC was like the Haven on NCL ... an area for suite guests. Someone posted that there are regular balcony cabins in the YC as well. So, while this is not reserved exclusively for suite guests, it is reserved exclusively for YC guests? Can someone buy into the YC without being a YC guest? Thank you :)

resstation Posted May 12, 2015 #25 Share Posted May 12, 2015 Ok. I think whoever posted that on the NCL was mistaken then. I think what they meant was that there are cabins that LOOK like regular balcony cabins - but they are considered suites in the YC area. It truly is a "ship within a ship" so if you book a cabin in the YC area, you are a YC guest with all the trimmings.
