atlantamoi Posted September 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2005 Are there private snorkeling companies at the St. Thomas port soliciting biz? We are unsure we want to snorkel, but would like the option. In Grand Cayman there were tons of private operators soliciting business. Thanks... wondering the same for Nassau (and will post in that thread also).
The Islander Posted September 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2005 No you aren't going to find business representatives on the dock soliciting/hustling business per se. There are several stores in Havensight that do bookings though so that is an option -that they might be able to hook you up with a charter that isn't already booked up. Most ships dock in Havensight. If you are anchored in the harbor or docked at Crown Bay then no there aren't any options, that I know of. What type of snorkeling trip were you looking for? (I assumed you meant a daycharter.) You can always snorkel from shore if you decide you want to; Coki Beach and Sapphire have watersports booths on the beach that rent gear. --Islander http://www.*****
jmo1 Posted September 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2005 You really don't need to book a tour to snorkel at St. Thomas. The best snorkeling is off the beaches here. As the previous poster alluded to, just get a taxi to Sapphire Beach and rent gear if you don't have your own. It's unlike Grand Cayman where the best snorkeling is off shore near Rum Point and Stingray City.
atlantamoi Posted September 14, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted September 14, 2005 Yeah, I was thinking a day charter, but hitting a beach is fine. Probably cheaper as well. Not sure where we dock... I'm going to be on Holland America (Zuiderdam). Thanks for the input.
