Upgrade Question

I checked on line and a premium vista balcony is only about $200 total more than what we paid for our Aft View because the prices have dropped. We did not book with a plan that allowed us to have an adjustment.

A) Is there an additional charge for changing a reservation?

B) Is it worth the extra $200?

No additional charge for upgrading.

There are a couple of rates that do not allow any changes at all, not even for a fee, but it's unlikely that you have one of those, as those are usually ones where Carnival picks your room for you. With all other rates, there is no fee for upgrading, not even under Early Saver. You just pay the extra that it costs to move up. If this is one of those aft wraps, those balconies are quite amazing!

I would upgrade to the aft wrap balcony cabin in a heartbeat. Which ship is it? There are some differences depending on the ship. For example, on the Spirit class ships the aft wrap balcony cabins are suites. Spirit class deck 4 has the most cover over the balcony which is desirable for wet weather and shade, however if you like more sun for sunbathing, the higher decks don't have as much balcony cover.

Grrr... instead of jumping on the deal I pondered and now it is gone. :( I'm hoping for either a further price drop and I can snag a suite or another aft wrap comes up. We get really great casino deals so I didn't figure that the cruise would go down so much in price. There is a part of me that doesn't care as long as I'm on the ship, the other half says it's our 10 year anniversary and to have a little more fun if it isn't going to break the bank. *fingers crossed the casino pays for our excursions like last year
