Splendor cloud 9 ocean view cabins #1003/1004

Recommended Posts

Hi..I have a free carnival cruise for 2 people..... deck 1 inside cabin. I can pay to upgrade. The spa oceanview is $190 upgrade & Spa Inside upgrade is $75. but no spa amentites because the cruise is already free. Is this worth it? I read somewhere there is a large observation deck right outside these cabins? Are there any chairs or only a place to stand? An oceanview upgrade is $110. A balcony upgrade..$330 an inside cabin on deck 6 or 7 is $20. Per person. I am not paying for a balcony upgrade. Never been on carnival but the pricing is goofy. Different prices for forward, middle, aft cabins? At least thats what I was told. Then again...I have been given so much misinformation my head is spinning😏😏😏😏😏

Thank You Kelly

Gah, just wrote a long reply and my computer went nuts...

First thing: I'm not aware of Splendor having ocean view spa cabins, there are balconies and insides on decks 10 and 11 (or maybe it's 11 and 12) near the spa.

Second: it is standard(and possibly goofy) across all cruise lines to have different pricing for the same cabins in different locations (aft, midship, forward, also different decks) Generally the midship cabins on higher decks are more desirable. This is because of their proximity to more "action" as well as potentially less movement of the ocean.

Third: as far as the upSELL prices you've been quoted, only you can decide if they are worth it. Also are they per person or total? I personally would stay put, but if you feel a different cabin better suits your needs, then go for it.

Finally: If I remember correctly there is a walkway outside one of the spa decks (as well as several others). They are open to everyone and have a few benches. When the ship is moving it can be VERY windy all the way forward.

We've been on Splendor 3 times now, fun ship Have a great cruise.

Hi....Thank You for replying.. Sorry you lost your post....MADDENING...I have learned the hard way to copy what I have already wrote.......there are outside Spa Cabins on the Panorama Deck all the way forward. I think there are 4 outside cabins. I have only cruised on Royal Caribbean, Princess & Celebrity.

When I have called about pricing....The rep will give a number of available cabins....as an example: .lets just say on Deck 6..... There are 15 cabins available all the same category...5 forward, 5 middle, 5 Aft.....Say I ask about the price on a forward cabin. A price may be.....$500 as an example. I don't like being forward on a ship.so I ask about a price on a middle cabin......and its $550... No don't want that....how about an aft cabin.....$600. Why do the prices keep getting more expensive for the same category? Location I am told. We just took my mom, whose Cancer is in remission, on Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas(2/15). Our whole family. 6 pp...3 Central Park Balcony Cabins. I believe the CP Balcony Cabins were on 4-5 Decks. There were 2 different Categories of CP Balcony Cabins....with a price difference of $20. We were spread out over those 4-5 decks. I have never encountered a Cruise Line that has different pricing within the same category...before Carnival. This is a special deal through a local casino. I have called 4 different times, for different months, different cabins, different ships.

1st time I was told...I could not use my 4-7 night Free Voucher on an 8 night cruise.

2nd time I call...the rep looks up the ships that go to Grand Turk. Tells me that the Carnival Breeze goes there...buts its an 8 night cruise. I told her about my 4-7 night free voucher & the rep proceeds to tell me that I MOST CERTAINLY CAN USE my voucher on an 8 night cruise. I would have to pay a 1 Day "Upgrade Fee" of $76 PER PERSON. Now, I have to check out some dates with my Daughter.

Yesterday, I call Carnival ....I have to get the upgrade prices again because they change. I tell the Carnival Rep I want to book the 8 Day Carnival Breeze. She looks up my voucher, in her computer, and tells me I CANNOT USE MY VOUCHER FOR AN 8 NIGHT CRUISE."I'm sorry the rep you, talked to about this Cruise, gave you the wrong information"

Does anyone know what is really going on? SO ...I ask about the Cloud 9 Spa Cabins. I get different prices for inside/outside. The Cloud 9 Spa Cabins come with all the amenities of the spa...like Thermal Suite...Thalassotheraoy Pool.....Outside Upgrade is $190 per person...Inside $75 per person. Now, I have to talk to my Daughter again because the 8 night Carnival Breeze is out.......

30 minutes later I call Carnival back. I want to book the Outside Cloud 9 Spa Oceanview Cabin. On the Splendor for February 2016. The rep tells me there is $75 Upgrade Fee. What? I said are you looking at OCEANVIEW? No....I was looking at Inside Cloud 9.....😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡..... So she is telling me what cabins are available etc, talking about my voucher etc. Then Carnival Rep says...."I don't believe that the Spa Amentites are included in your $190 upgrade Fee"... Let me Check....Comes back on...Tells me...NO SPA AMENITIES INCLUDED. I tell her...I just talked to XXXX 30 minutes ago....So what am I getting for $190 Upgrade Fee per Person? Location." I"m sorry the other rep gave you the wrong information" IS THERE AN ECHO HERE? DOES ANYONE HAVE THE CORRECT INFORMATION?

This Cruise/Voucher has to be booked I believe directly through the Carnival VIP Casino Department. I document my phone calls. But, now I am so frustrated. I have to pay port charges/taxes/fees/gratuites/airfare/spending/Pre Cruise Hotel/Upgrade Fee..it is NOT TOTALLY FREE! NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE DOING...ITS MADDENING😡😡😡😡😡😡😡.... Sorry for Typos😏... Kelly

Welcome to Carnival customer service. This has been the experience of so many of us. You get different information from every rep. Many of us know your frustrations there.

I most certainly would not pay to take one of the Spa rooms if the spa access was not included. But if it were, then yes, I would. $75 in total extra for a spa inside with the benefits sounds like a great deal to me. Without the access, I would either stick with the inside or go up to the standard oceanview.

The pricing can get confusing. I'll try to simplify it here. On the same deck, midship is 1 category higher than aft & forward. The midship on that deck is the same category as the aft/forward on the next highest deck. So midship deck 1 = aft/forward deck 2. The different prices you were given makes it sound like there could be some parts sold out. Midship is more expensive than aft/forward on the same deck. If the aft price was higher than midship, then that means that aft was sold out on not only that deck, but also the next deck up. So to get aft required going 2 or more decks up, resulting in a higher price than the lower-on-the-ship midship. Many times, that can happen. I find that being low on the ship is not only fine, but often times better than being higher up. I would be fine with a low inside or OV, and I have had many of those. I also really like the porthole cabins on Carnival. They are priced the same as a standard interior, but they sell out quick.

I hope you're able to get the correct info from Carnival reps. I wouldn't know whether the spa access is included or not. If you tell us what this free cruise thing is all about, then maybe someone else who has gotten that same offer will know.

Those are handicap accessible rooms. there is a possibility of being bumped, but I'd take that risk since Carnival cannot downgrade you. ETA: The observation deck outside does have a small bench.
