Can I make dinner reservation before boarding and use OBC?

We have been invited to join our friends for a birthday dinner on the first evening in Tuscan Grill. However we have a huge OBC and really don't want to pay for the meal ahead of time by credit card.

 

Anyone ever make a reservation pre-cruise but pay with OBC on board?

OBC = On Board Credit

 

It can only be used while on board the ship. If you book a specialty restaurant prior to boarding, the charges will be billed to your credit card.

There are always exceptions but I've never seen those restaurants sold out. You may have to be flexible about your dining times. Sometimes there are discounts offered if there is a lot of availability.

Do you have a celebrity cc by any chance? They were having a special by one specialty get one 50% off and they didn't take the money upfront!

I trust that you are aware that if you book Tuscan Grill online the price is $35pp, once on board the price is $45pp. You can always book and pay online then cancel when aboard the refund will go back to your seapass as OBR, rebook getting your original reservation slot but it will cost $10pp extra.

Speciality restaurants are busier than ever and the 7.30-8.30 slots disappear very quickly probably due to people offloading surplus OBC.
