1stcru1se Posted June 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2015 We are new ocean cruisers scheduled to cruise on Windstar Wind Surf in September 2015. Our ship will make stops in Monte Carlo and Canes on two consecutive days, We would like to book a private tour from one of these ports so that we can see the beautiful French Rivera and get the most out of our trip. There seems to be so much to see and do here. There will be four of us. We are wondering which port would be best to explore on our own and which would be best to arrange a private tour. Also, what are the recommendations for "must see" sites on our private tour. Thank You so much for any advice you can offer.
Rare Scrapnana Posted June 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2015 Welcome to Cruise Critic! Check out if there is a roll call for your cruise. You may be able to get ideas from others sailing with you or even join a tour being planned. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=959 You might also look at the Ports of Call forum for some ideas. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=593 Hope you have a great cruise! Marseydotes Posted June 3, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2015 We wandered around Monte Carlo and took a private tour from Cannes. Cannes is larger and has fewer close-to-port historical or touristy places. Check the port boards, as well as your roll call!
1stcru1se Posted June 3, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted June 3, 2015 Thanks so much for your reply. I think we will do the same. What private tour did you do? Were you happy with it? Roll Call doesn't appear to be very popular for smaller ships. The Wind Surf has about 300 passengers. I will check port boards. Just getting use to this site as we are new to ocean cruising. Our preference has been River Cruises, mainly because I get motion sickness. Thank You again fr taking the time to reply.
EMED2010 Posted June 3, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2015 We used Tour Designer en Provence with Catherine when we docked in Toulon in 2010. She was fantastic! She is still there so I have provided a link http://www.provence-travel.com/#_=_ which will hopefully work. I don't know how far Cannes is from Toulon or if they pick up there, but it can't hurt to ask.
