OBC Remaining at Cruise End

What happens if you have a balance remaining on your on board credit at the end of the cruise? Can you cash out? I just did a price adjustment and now I have more OBC than I anticipate using.

use it for gratuities..

buy me a nice gift....

use it in the casino....

get me another nice gift....

LOL :)

I already paid for gratuities and I don't gamble. Do I lose any balance at the end?

As far as a gift goes; I'll buy you dinner in the main dining room.

On our B2B this past January, we had a lot of OBC from price drops. The last evening of our cruise when I knew we wouldn't be spending any more, I went to guest services to cash out. Fortunately, we're platinum so there wasn't a long line.

I did it this way so that if they told me I couldn't do this, I would have downloaded it to a slot machine & then cashed out through the casino.

Check out this thread, especially posts #2 and #8. It worked for us on a cruise last year. We had $100 in non-refundable obc AFTER gratuities and such. It worked perfectly.

Any non-refundable will be lost. Be brave, goto the casino, create an account, transfer the non-refundable amount to the casino bank, spin the reels once, and then cash yourself out! You'll take your card to the casino cage and tell them to cash you out....you'll get everything that is left...one friend didn't even gamble, she transferred the funds and then cashed out! She had $400 in non-refundable credit and rarely spent any money on board....

Happy sailing!

So Carnival let you use it for gratuities?

On one ship I was on (forget which) I didn't spend all the OBC and (silly me) assumed it would go towards the gratuities but they didn't count it so I still had a bill and unused OBC.:(:(

Strange our obc is always used toward gratuities

As a general rule any money that Carnival gives you, shareholder OBC, or promotional OBC is nonrefundable. Money from other sources, OBC from price reductions or outside sources is refundable. Go to one of the onboard sign and sail kiosks and print out a statement of your account. That will show you what credits are in each category.

As others have said the refundable portion can be cashed out at any time. They used to automatically give you a check for the refundable portion with the final statement. This is no longer the case. If you have not cashed out yourself, amounts less than $5 will be donated to St. Jude and amounts greater than $5 will be mailed to you by check.

The nonrefundable portion will be used first by Carnival to cover sign and sale charges. If the charges are all covered and there is still a balance remaining you will lose it unless you spend it or gamble with it. Carnival used to be lax about letting you load it into a slot machine and then immediately or almost immediately cash it out and the casino cage. This no longer appears to be the case. You can still cash out after gambling for a while, but I am unaware of exactly what constitutes gambling for "a while". We rarely gamble so someone else may be able to give you more info. about that.
