pjs678 Posted June 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2015 Hi all, was offered a free upgrade from A2 to A1 on Silhouette for a Baltic cruise next summer. Should I bother? Aren't the aft A2 cabins better because they have cabins above and no overhang? Thanks in advance for any input.
thebutlerdidit Posted June 13, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2015 I've always chosen A2 over the free A1 upgrade. A quiet cabin is really important to me. I'm a freakishly light sleeper.
flames9 Posted June 13, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 13, 2015 We prefer the A2 back aft on the S class ships...of course have only done it once,lol..in cabin 1648......have 1650 on our British Isles cruise this august. 1648 was super quiet.
emileg Posted June 13, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) I would probably take the upgrade if I could get a cabin on the hump, such as 1610, with their giant diagonal balconies. However, these cabins are desirable real estate and are grabbed very early. Edited June 13, 2015 by emileg
Wanderlost Posted June 13, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 13, 2015 We like the A-1s because of the overhang, but many people do not.
pjs678 Posted June 13, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted June 13, 2015 Thanks for the responses. I think we will play it safe and stick with an A2 as close to midship as we can get. Don't want overhang or no cabins above us.
redjetz Posted June 13, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 13, 2015 We like the mid-ship A2s as well. Some of us just don't tolerate the ship movement in those lovely aft cabins as well, unfortunately.
Alimack Posted June 13, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 13, 2015 My wife and I were in 1634 and our adult children in 1636 on the Equinox in 2012. Both rooms were very quiet. My wife and I will be in 1640 next March. We are expecting more of the same. Great location!
CaroleSS Posted June 13, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 13, 2015 We booked A2 over A1 because many of the A1 cabins are directly below the pool. We've been under the pool before and found there to be a lot of noise. Check the location before upgrading.
Cruizen Susan Posted June 13, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 13, 2015 We took the upgrade to A1 for our next cruise. 1605!! Great location, great balcony!

nikel Posted June 13, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 13, 2015 We have been in 1591 twice and there was no problem. As long as you are not under the whirlpool it should not be a problem. As far as the overhang goes. We had both sun and shade. In A2 we once had such noisy neighbours :eek:that anything under the pool would have been better...so you never can tell. I would go for whichever is the better midship location
Rare Jetswdo Posted June 14, 2015 #13 Share Posted June 14, 2015 but of course it depends on the ship. We had a mid ship A2 location on the Reflection which was perfect for us. On upcoming Bermuda trip on the Summit, we didn't like any of the aqua locations, so picked the best (to us) of the A2. So always know the ship layout before deciding.
