jorjen9 Posted April 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2004 We are staying here the night before our cruise. Anyone stayed here who can tell me if it is nice? We wanted Marriott Harbour Beach, but it was sold out.

pamwinn Posted April 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2004 I think you will be pleased. The property is really beautiful and the view from the top of the tower can't be beat. ande12 Posted April 7, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Very nice!my wife and I stayed there with another couple in January before our Golden Princess cruise.Everythig is top shelf, the grounds are beautiful and the hot tub is the biggest I've ever seen. The lounge rotates at the top of the tower portion of the hotel-giving excellant views of the port.It makes a complete revolution every 66 minutes. On the waterway so you can ride water taxi all day for $5.Conceige gave us a ride to port in the morning-just ask because its not listed as a service. Can't wait to stay there again! CruiseFever Posted April 7, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 7, 2004 The 66 is THE premier hotel in Ft Lauderdale, you should not be disappointed. I don't know if this is one of Derf's links but it's one I've used: Hyatt Pier 66 Also, right down A1A a bit is the Sheraton Yankee Clipper. Not as nice but still beachfront and they have a live webcam that I sometimes leave up on one of my monitors which shows the beach and refreshes all day long! heyjude27 Posted April 7, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 7, 2004 I didn't like the Pier 66 Hyatt as much as I've enjoyed Hyatts in the past. It's showing it's age (the original building was built a zillion years ago). Service was very decent though. We didn't bother with the resaurants -- there's too much around FLL that's more desirable. We arrived post cruise at the ripe hour of 9:30 and had to wait until just after noon for our rooms, which we expected. They were decent rooms on the water and comfortable enough. They kept our luggage locked up and gave us access when needed to get swimsuits etc. Very accommodating. We lounged by the pools until we were given room keys and then water-taxied all over--that was quite enjoyable. The hot tub was huge but without heat. The spa tub in the spa only had about 18 inches of water in it. No biggie -- there are other things to do. I can't complain because I paid $80 through priceline -- but I would never pay their rack rate. The hardest part was walking to the end of the pier and gazing across the short channel at the Grand, which docks RIGHT THERE. I just wanted to jump back on her. If you go pre-cruise, there is a store in a little center almost hidden right cross the street -- and there is a liquor store with nice wines. A very popular restaurant -- Biminy Boatyard (sp?) is close by -- you can walk over the bridge if you'd like or take short cab ride. J
TOMMYCRUISER Posted April 7, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 7, 2004 This hotel is very nice with a very large pool area and a good night life and you can go up on the bridge in the morning if your up and see the ships pull in. And on the other side of the bridge is the 15th street fisheries which is a excellent sea food place. Just ask at the desk and they will give you directions. First class all the way. sue d. miller Posted April 7, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 7, 2004 LOL. Believe me,if I had your money I would be there in a heartbeat. Wait till you have grandchildren. The money seems to dissapear. Are you moving to Florida? If you do, come to the west coast. We are surrounded by Islands, resorts, and a two hr. drive to Tampa, Orlando, and Ft Lauderdale. Everyone here calls it paradise. Literally. 7 Days on The Star Princess OCTOBER,24,2004 <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=10> <param name="day" value=24> <param name="hour" value=05> </applet>

sue d. miller Posted April 7, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Well that takes care of west coast. The ocean is on the east coast. No matter where you go, it is wonderful, and your gonna love it. We will wave when we drive by. It's tough, but someone has to do it. sunsearcher Posted April 8, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 8, 2004 We stayed at the Pier 66 for one day before our cruise on the Coral March22 and for 2 days after we returned. We loved the place. Asked for the same room for post-cruise and got it. Arrived about 10am on the day our cruise returned and our room was ready. Beautiful marina with some of the most expensive boats we've ever seen - one for sale for 13million dollars. Water taxi right off the end of the dock. Very handy. Good resturaunt - Grille 66-pricy but very good with great service.
