Houston hotels/transfers for Sun

We're first-time cruisers who will be sailing on the Sun departing December 11. We hit our first (maybe only?) bump in the road when our departure city was changed from New Orleans to Houston. It looks like so far NCL isn't offering any pre-cruise hotels or transfers. I know nothing about Houston and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a hotel or transfer company (or can we just take a cab to the docks for a reasonable price)?

Welcome to Houston the nation's fourth largest city.

The airport closest to the La Porte TX, where NCL will sail is Hobby (HOU), Bush Intercontintal (IAH) is North Houston about 1 hr. from the terminal, depending on traffic.

If you come in early, and need an over night, check La Porte, Sea Brook, Kemah, Clearlake & Webster for hotels. Two good properties in the area are South Shore Harbor, which offers cruise specials, and the Clear Lake Hilton. I'm assuming you have Expedia, Priceline etc.
