SadieN Posted June 17, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2015 Only disadvantage is that LGB is smaller so there are less alternatives.
Husky61 Posted June 17, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2015 Flying from NYC.Any disadvantages of flying directly to LGB instead of LAX.Booked into the Hyatt the Pike pre cruise. LGB is a very easy airport to fly in and out of. Not sure what disadvantages you might encounter flying into LGB as opposed to LAX.:)
Cruisin' Chick Posted June 17, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) If the airline you want to book flies out of there and you get a flight you like....:) Just make sure if you're on a ship other than a Carnival one, that you tell your driver you need to go to the Port of Los Angeles (the World Cruise Center in San Pedro) and not the Port of Long Beach. HawksFan74 Posted June 18, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2015 We flew into LGB and out of LAX for our last cruise. All other things being equal, we would choose LGB every time. The only reason we flew home from LAX was because there was no flight at the time we needed out of LGB.
Splinter Posted June 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2015 Assuming you are looking at flying on Jet Blue? They are one of the few airlines that flies into Long Beach vs. LAX or John Wayne. Nice airport, VERY easy to get your luggage, and shuttle or cab from here to the port is about the same as LAX.

We are flying JetBlue from JFK 3 days prior to our cruise on Oceania.Staying at the Hyatt on the Pike.Originally we were booked on United but they cancelled all flights out of JFK after October of this year.Have to check with Hyatt if they have a shuttle service or take a taxi. How far from LGB to the Hyatt? HawksFan74 Posted June 21, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 21, 2015 Hyatt the Pike does not have an airport shuttle - it's too far. From LGB airport to the hotel is about 10 miles on the freeway, but Long Beach Yellow Cab has a flat rate of $23: http://rideyellow.com/rates/
