Fort Lauderdale Pre-Cruise Hotel

I am currently booked on the XMAS 2005 cruise aboard the CP. I was going to book the Amerisuites Hotel ( listed as 2.5 stars on Priceline) but Priceline is no longer offering this hotel. Does anyone have any suggestions for a Pre-cruise hotel booked through Priceline or any other discounted sites? I would rather not spend $200.00 on a room we will be using for 12 hours. Thanks in advance!

ppmg2 - I'll be on the same ship as you at the same time and also need a hotel the night before. When I use Priceline, I bid based on stars in a particular zone, not any one hotel. Does Priceline allow you to bid on a particular hotel now? I've heard it changed but haven't looked at it lately.

I'm also going to check out Hotwire to see what I come up with. We need 2 rooms and I want to save my cash for the ship.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Airport North this past July. It was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. They offer free shuttle to and from airport and cruise terminal. There is a continental breakfast, nice pool and free internet in the lobby. They would also use the shuttle to take you to area shopping and restaurants in between airport runs. We would stay there again, we were very pleased with this hotel.

Julia&David - funny you bring this up since just after I read this tonight, I decided maybe I should look for a hotel being it's close to the holidays. Since I am part of Hilton Honors, I decided to look on the Hilton site and found 2 Hampton Inns, the one you mention and another that looks to be a little but further, called Hampton Inn & Suites Ft. Lauderdale-Airport . Hampton Inn Airport North had no availability for the night of 12/23, the night we need so I went ahead and booked the one I noted above. With my AAA discount, I got 2 rooms, 139.00 each, with tax.

It looks decent enough, a tad bit more than I wanted to spend but seeing what availability there is for that night, it looks to be a decent rate.

I also checked out Hotwire, and then looked at possible Hotwire hotels at www.betterbidding.com. One of the 3 stars, Wyndham, got terrible reviews so I decided not to chance it.

Hi PPMG & Travel Lady: Also on the CB 12/24 Xmas sailing. See you are on the Roll call board.

You may want to check out the Marriott website because they have Courtyard by the airport w/free shuttle for $127/night. (If you have AAA, govt rates or senior rates they maybe less) There are also other Marriott properties a bit lower but I'm not sure where they are in location to the a/p or ship. I bit the bullet and cashed points and were staying at the Harbor Beach Marriott the 23rd. (It's the least I could since my folks are giving us the cruise for Xmas!!!)

Good luck in your hotel search. The Marriott Marina (which we stayed at prior to the Coral Princess sailing 2 years ago) also had rooms available. Nice hotel too.

Try the Sleep Inn, their hotel was new last year, great continental breakfast, hotel shuttle from airport and also to cruise port, the staff we exceptional in their service and their shuttle set up. There is a grocery store across the street, we were very impressed, great prices. Go into the web site and check it out. Hope this helps.

I've posted this idea on other threads.

Consider renting a car for the day, dropping it at the airport where the major auto rental companies will shuttle you to the pier for free.

This allows you to explore the area and obtain a cheaper hotel inland. We got a Courtyard in Planation from Priceline for $40. This was in January 2004.

Hello PPMG2,

I ALWAYS stay at the Mariotte North Marina, AWESOME place , got it on priceline last year for under $100 and it was unreal. I am a cruise specialist and stay at a lot of places, this is by far my favorite! I would be happy to stay there for $200 a night! It is that nice. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me at jlandry@cruisesinc.com . I am sailing on the Star Princess in Feb. Cannot wait!

A couple of days ago I just bid $60 for 4/22/06 (a Saturday - hard to get many times), 2 star in the FLL Airport area on PriceLine. I was very pleased as I got the La Quinta - FLL-Hollywood location. Has transportation from the airport and to the cruiseport plus continental breakfast all included. This place gets excellent ratings through Trip Advisor and Triple A rates it as a 3 star. I have gotten bids at the 3 star Sheraton for as low as $49 but it does not have the free breakfast or free transportation to cruiseport.

We decided to move from the Hampton Inn near the airport to be closer to the cruise port when we wake up. We get in from Seattle at 5PM on 12/23 so will probably be tired and hungry. I decided it's better to take a taxi at that point to the place where we need to be the next morning, get cleaned up, and get dinner. Based on all I've read, the hotels I priced below for that night are close to restaurants and some note walking distance to decent places. I'm leaning towards the Holiday Inn Express at this point since it gets decent reviews on TripAdvisor, we don't want to spend a lot on a hotel pre-cruise night as we want to stay in a nice hotel the following weekend in Miami for New Years Eve. Also, Holiday Inn Express offer a free breakfast, probably continental I suspect, but no need to eat big before getting on the ship. I may give Priceline a try as well but if nothing shows up for a decent price in the zone I want, the Holiday Inn Express it will be. I did make reservations to ensure we have a room there and can cancel 24 hours in advance if need be.

Info below is AAA rates for the night of 12/23 from each hotel's website:

Hotel, Address Standard Room Rate

Holiday Inn Express Conv. Ctr 1500 SE 17th $123.00

Extended StayAmerica 1450 SE 17th Street Cswy $135.00

Hyatt Pier 66 2301 SE 17th $207.00

Marriott Marina 881 SE 17th Street $210.00

Embassy Suites 1100 SE 17th Street $210.00

Thanks, Where I Belong. I still haven't heard of many people having success on Priceline lately. Does anyone know what the 3 star hotels are in the Downtown area and a bidding success. Thanks everyone for the info.

Go to BiddingForTravel.com and look at the hotel list for Ft. Lauderdale. There are to many hotels to list here. Also, you can see the winning bids and for what dates. This is a MUCH larger bidding group than just Cruise Critic.

Thanks for the info but it seems as if priceline does not have alot of activity in FLL currently. Keep me posted if anyone hears anything especially over the holidays.
