Big2Little4me Posted June 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Are we strange in that our family loves sea days? I see it as a time for us all to get together and we play cards or games. My husband love to sit and watch the water go by. I find it more relaxing that running around on excursions.

Gardeneroflove Posted June 26, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2015 I love sea days. The perfect cruise for me would be 7-9 days to nowhere! On our next cruise, since it'll be too freaking hot, I'm likely staying on the ship, plus I've already done those ports a few times. It really depends on WHY you cruise. My sil hates sea days and love our 5 port day cruise-she was busy and she's happy busy. Me, I don't want to be busy on vacation. I want lazy, I want naps, and I want to read, or wonder or do nothing. Lurkyloo Posted June 26, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 26, 2015 I would have to say I love sea days as much as I love port days - for different reasons. Just get me on a ship and I am happy! ;)

taymiss2 Posted June 26, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Very first cruise had no sea days. That was perfect for us. Against my instincts just did the Dream in March which had 3 sea days. It was just too much for me. Thank goodness husband wasn't with me as he would have gone nuts. I enjoyed the ship but was kinda bitter being at sea when I knew if I had done the NCL trip on the same date we would have stopped at costa maya for a fourth port. Now looking for a cruise for next year. Want a no sea day or 1 sea day trip if I can find it. They are slim pickings. Usually a southern Caribbean. It seems the bigger and newer the ship the more sea days. May try a wind star trip.
islandatsea Posted June 26, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Love sea days. Sea days gives us time to kick back and relax. Sleep in and do whatever we want to do. If the ship stops at a Port we have visited before, that would be another sea day for us.

SkyMaster Posted June 26, 2015 #13 Share Posted June 26, 2015 I too, LOVE the sea days! In the past, we had cruises to nowhere, that were nothing but sea days, and I really enjoyed them. Wish they'd offer them again. ;) "SKY"
KPfromCT Posted June 26, 2015 #14 Share Posted June 26, 2015 I guess I'm the odd man out here....:o:o I DO like my sea days, but I appreciate them more after 2 or 3 port days. I don't think I could do an 8 night cruise to nowhere.:o But last year on our 8 night Breeze cruise, we left Saturday, sea day on Sunday, and then ports Mon-Thur, and 2 sea days on the way back. Those were much appreciated, as we'd been "GOING" for those 4 days.:D:D

Rare bluejay555 Posted June 26, 2015 #16 Share Posted June 26, 2015 We like a combination of port and sea days. :) LuLu I agree! Definitely a combo. I do love sea days though. When I cruise with my kids, we spend all day at the pool/water slides, when I cruise with just my husband, we spend the day doing trivia, laying around on deck, or hanging at the bar. Fun stuff! The only thing is the crowds....here's the lido deck on a seaday during my last cruise:

elainmir Posted June 26, 2015 #18 Share Posted June 26, 2015 I love sea days to explore and relax. I sail for the ports though! I think 1 sea day for every port day is excellent...we enjoy the casino and looking at the art...maybe some time on serenity...it's fabulous

buddylover Posted June 26, 2015 #21 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Our family loves sea days too.....after all, they are the true "R & R" days. Of course the class of ship you are sailing on will determine how much "down" time you truly spend....LOL!!
ScrappinCSI Posted June 26, 2015 #22 Share Posted June 26, 2015 It all depends on what you want out of cruising. I guess most folks want beaches. I've lived in Fl. 50+ years, 10 minutes from the beach the whole time. Beaches got old by the time I was 8. I want to see the different cultures , how the islanders live, ruins and forts. So if its a port day with only beaches I'd just as soon it would've been a sea day. Now if it was a Baltic cruise that would be different.
Jimmy Geegitz Posted June 26, 2015 #23 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Equally to me. Our next cruise 4 port days and 4 sea days.. Love 2 sea days at the end of a cruise.
Tiggertastic Posted June 26, 2015 #24 Share Posted June 26, 2015 It's weird that we choose our cruise by itinerary for its ports of calls, then actually it's the sea days I crave
gupebreedr Posted June 26, 2015 #25 Share Posted June 26, 2015 Sea days are the best part of the cruise in my humble opinion. It's the perfect time to relax, sleep in, eat and spend time in the casino.:D I would not complain if there were no port days.
