Barcelona restaurant question

Recommended Posts

We will be starting and ending our cruise in Barcelona...flying in a day early and then staying for an additional day at the end of our cruise. We are booked at the "Hotel 1898" in the Ramblas area. If anyone has stayed at this hotel I would appreciate any recommendations for dinner that is in walking distance from the hotel. Any recommendations from those who have also stayed pre or post cruise in the area for lunch or dinner would be great.

The 1898 is extremely well located and an excellent hotel.

I always recommend at least one visit to Ciudad Condal for tapas when in Barcelona.

Barcelona is such an excellent culinary city that you literally have 100s of good options.

A visit to the Boqueria market is always a good option in the area. El Quim is a good choice here.

Los Caracoles is always a good local option just down from the hotel. It is a bit dated but has a long history.

El Raco del Mariner down on the old port is good lunch choice. While lunch is typically after 1 PM and it is busiest from 2 pm to 4 pm, they do open earlier for international tastes. While it can seem a bit pricey you are paying for the prime waterfront space.

There are several more casual places down the stretch from the port to La Barceloneta. One can try the Catalan (Valencian) Fideua, a version of Paella that uses small pasta rather than rice.
