StephanieDiva Posted September 19, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2005 Can anyone pass on a suggestion for who to go with for Sting Ray City and snorkeling? We want to go, but very limited budgets... who do you suggest?
astros fan Posted September 19, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2005 Soto's seems to have a good rep and very good prices. Captain Marvin's is a little more I believe, but also a very good rep.
laurelaggie Posted September 19, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2005 We used Nativeway last week and it was great. We did the Rum, Reef and Rays tour. We went to Stingray City, snorkeling at the coral reefs and spent the rest of the time at Rum Point Beach. It was $55 a person which includes lunch at the beach and its not a buffet. You get to pick off of a 15 item menu. The beach was beautiful and our group was the only ones there. We had Captain Chris as our guide and he was great! Sheffie Posted September 20, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2005 We used Captain Bryan's Buccaneer on our last cruise. Had a wonderful time. Here is a list of private vendors that I have gathered from here on CC. Have a wonderful time! IamCdn Posted September 20, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2005 Sheffie, great post of the websites. We went with NativeWay a couple of weeks ago on the Ray, Reef, Rum Point tour and it was outstanding. Grand Cayman was the port DW and I looked forward to the most and Nativeway enhanced our visit. This itinery fills the day. Sheldon was our captain and Charlie was the first mate. A videographer came with us to capture the day. There were only two other families on the trip so we had our run of the boat. The dvd was $60 - maybe a little pricey but with only 3 families we were on the video the entire time. The videographer scubas while everyone else snorkles at the reef so she captured some great shots. The dvd was mailed to us (in Canada) and took less than two weeks. Sheldon and Charlie fed and played with a couple of nurse sharks and a morey eel. We were able to reach in and pet them. The unique part of this tour is the Rum Point portion. There is an extensive thread dedicated to this beach so you can research there. It is very quick to get to Rum Point by boat from Stingray City compared to driving there from the port (45 to 60 minutes each way). We stayed at Rum Point for two hours and had lunch, shopping, and beach time.
Gala62 Posted September 20, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2005 We loved Captain Bryan's Catamaran tour because it is so much less crowded than some of the others - we only had 19 on our boat. They provide water and sell soda, beer and rum punch. Bring snacks to munch on. Our crew, Robert and Nick, were great! Robert teased an eel out of the coral to show us and also found a huge living conch (of course it was put back in the water!) - just lovely! We made 3 stops - 2 to snorkel and 1 at StingRay City. Their meeting spot is a couple blocks walk from the dock, easy to get to. Enjoy! Gail
rundogrun Posted September 20, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2005 Another vote for Sotos! These guys were great. Inexpensive, not crowded and excellent all around. Heck, even the locals use them.
