dshimizu Posted September 20, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2005 As we were in Bangkok last year for several days and took advantage of Princess' tours to the Elephants, cultural performance etc on route to Bangkok and the Palace etc. etc. what else can we do in the time we have alotted within easy reach of Laem Chabang? Princess has no other new excursions except the repeats of last year. Can we get to Pattaya? Is it worth it or is there something else to explore in the Chonburi province? Ar the taxis/cars at the port fair? The only quite I receivev was from a tour company that was charging $125. US for the return trip Pattaye/Laem Chabang---seems a lot of money for a 15 Klm trip! Any ideas would be appreciated.
edinburgher Posted November 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 2, 2005 There were taxis outside the terminal building. There was also a shuttle bus port/Pattaya/port and there was timetable for this in the building. Must be sponsored by a souvenir shop as you had to go to the souvenir/gem store on the way to Pattaya. We thought Pattaya a bit of a dump. We saw some of it on our way to an elephant village in Pattaya in the morning. We intended to shuttle into Pattaya in the pm but in the end decided against it based on what we saw. the Elephant village was great fun. www.elephant-village-pattaya.com. We did the combination trek. I wrote about this already today. You can click "edinburgher" then "find all posts" to see what I wrote about it. Theres also other things in the area, such as gardens, cultural shows etc.
dshimizu Posted November 2, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted November 2, 2005 Yes the Elephant Village, Noch Noch is good fun! We have decided to get a driver and go golfing at the Phoenix Course in the morning then maybe see some temples in Pattaya and then have lunch and a little shopping. We didn't realize that there was transportation from the port to Pattaya but there is all sorts from Pattaya to the terminal. The express bus service (about every 30 minutes) from Bkk to Pattaya passes the dock entrance. They WILL stop to set people down. So, returning from Pattaya (The Air con bus station) would be fine, just tell the onboard hostess where you want to get off when you board. Fare is 105 baht all the way. edinburgher Posted November 5, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 5, 2005 Noch Noch is not the same as the ELEPHANT VILLAGE PATTAYA. They are 2 different places. The Elephant Village in Pattaya is more into protecting the elephants and like a sanctuary. Noch Noch is, I believe, much more commercial.
